Hi, I've been lurking around here for a few weeks and I must say that there are lots of knowledgeable people here who give great advice. I'm glad I found this website.
I have two questions:
1. I've been using a comb to neaten up my hair but I've read about boar bristle brushes and how they spread natural scalp oils. I found this brush in my home and was wondering if it was good to use... I thought I'd ask because I'm not sure if there are multiple types of boar bristle brushes. Here are a few pictures:

Here are some pictures of the comb I currently use:

2. I wash my hair every 2 days with shampoo, because otherwise I get small white flakes in my hair which cause itchiness. This is only a problem during the cold winters here in Canada; I'm not sure why, but this doesn't happen in the summer.
Here is a picture of the blue brush after using it (it shows the flakes):

Is this something to be worried about? Is there a specific type of shampoo I can use that will reduce this flaking but not damage my hair? I have shoulder length hair that is a bit wavy, and it takes over an hour to dry... it would be nice if I didn't need to wash it every 2 days.
Thank you in advance for your advice!

The comb you are using is the exact same i use once in a while ( lately i have been avoiding brushing and combing very often). I am pretty sure there are combs out there with wider teeth that would be better for things like detangling, without causing much damage. I do not have any experience with boar bristle brushes but i hear they are much better. I am actually thinking about getting one if they actually are better for your hair.
That sounds like dry scalp. I like Matrix Actrol shampoo for flakes. It's gentle and not drying at all.
