I had (and still have) bad acne when I was a teen. Nothing worked and 17 years ago I took accutane meds for a long time. I noticed that it really dried my skin out and I stopped taking it when my nose was bleeding inside because my skin was dry and cracking. 17 years later my skin remain real dry (but not dry enough to bleed). I was reading around on the net about side effects and hair loss or thinning hair was listed as a possiblility. I have real thin hair now and a spot on the back of my head is real visible now where my 2 cowlicks merge (I was born this way but it wasn't visible before the accutane)...for 17 years now people have mistakenly thought it's a bald spot. Oh, my nails are also real brittle now and break all the time.
Since this medication is still being used for acne, I was wondering if anybody else has had a similar experience and if anything could be done to help the hair thicken?

I have exactly the same problem. I ended up cutting my long hair off because I had lots of hair loose and my hair started to look thinner and thinner. I don't take the medicins anymore, but when I did, my skin was also very dry and my hairskin didn't seem to produce the oils. Also my lips were very, and I mean very dry, and my eyes were irritated all the time. I'm glad that it all stopped after stopping with this medicine, but I still have lots of hair loose while my doctor told me that the hair loose was a side effect and that it wouldn't last longer than six months after stopping with the medicine. I'm quite concerned about this because I'm trying grow my hair out again.
Sorry for the bad English.
