Why do you guys want everyone to have long hair? I have seen a few posts with people complaining about why most others have short hair, and there's also the posts here with people wanting the long hair look to take over (models in magazines, movie stars etc.) I am very happy being one of the few with long hair (I am 16 so about 99% of people my age esp. at my school are trying to be all trendy and most have spiked hair) It almost makes it feel like a privelage for me to have long hair (not fully long yet but it's getting there) BTW. If this sounds like I am insulting you guys, I am most definitely NOT, i'm just wondering.

Interesting question . . .
I've always liked long hair for various reasons . . . I wear mine long because I like it that way. If other folks jump on the fashion bandwagon as it wanders through "longhair land," then I say bully for them. They'll have long hair for different reasons than me.
Nice thing about having the "me too" folks joining us "long forever" folks is that it reduces the problems long hairs go through in jobs, etc. So, as the shampoo folks say, "It's a wash."

I don't want everyone to have long hair. I also don't want
the whole world telling me to get a haircut. All I want is
the freedom to have hair as long as I want to have.
I have hair down to my wasit and others seem to think they
have a god given right to tell me to get a haircut.
I enjoy being in the minority. Having long hair in a short haired world just helps me to stand out from the crowd!
...assume that we ALL want everyone to have long hair? if you read through the posts here you might find that alot of us enjoy standing out in the crowd- something that wouldn't be the case if 'everyone' were to grow out his hair.
I am also 16 years of age and I know how hard it is for someone of our age to have long hair and be male at the same time.
I enjoy the privelage of being the ONLY male in my school with long hair, however what I do not like is how people take it upon themselves to tell me to get it cut and the constant remarks and insults I have to put up with!
It's a VERY difficult time in school with long hair, but I'd never cut it off, I just love it too much, I just wish short-haired people could understand that. I mean, I don't go around telling them to "grow their hair" or "be careful that spike might poke someones eye out!" :-)
If you're planning to go to college, you can look forward to it as a much better environment for acceptance of long hair. At my school guys have all different lengths of hair, from almost bald to waist length and everything in between. It's not an issue at all. People would never think of harrasing a guy for his hair length or style.
