What's the difference (besides the spelling) between hair detangler and leave in conditioner?

Leave-ins also moisturize the hair and make it easier to comb, detanglers just make it easier to comb unless otherwise stated.
I prefer leave-ins because a LOT of detanglers have too much alcohol ain them, and are have too much 'base' in them to be any good for hair. Or at least that's what I hear.
I tried detanglers and they just dried out my hair if I remember correctly; sort of like hair spray...kind of against the point of them. xD
