I know this question might sound vague, but I strongly require to change my eyeglasses, I used to have short hair, and my current glasses are the NERD, big square, type. I was told by my coworkers that those don't go with my ponytail.
Can you suggest what type of eyeglasses are the best for longhaired men?. Obviously, that also depends on your type of face, but you might be able to advise, since you might have long-haired friends who use eyeglasses.
THX.
Although what I have on in the picture are sunglasses, what you may want to look for are about that same shape. I typically wear contact lenses, but have a few pair of regular glasses I wear on occasion. Most of them are the smaller, round or oval shaped ones
With this being said, I will occasionally see someone on MTV or wherever with the old black plastic framed "geek" glasses (sorta like ray-bans, but with clear glass) and that person will have long hair.
here's a site that helps you pick out what type of glasses will work with your face-shape
here it is

After many years of having waist length hair and wearing
glasses i've come to the painful conclusion that no glasses
go with long hair. No matter what glasses I wore I
always looked like a nerd and hated them. I can't wear them
because of a stigmatism, but I would recommend Contacts.
I've tried every style of glasses on earth and have come to
the painful conclusion that I'll always look like a nerd who
wears glasses. I've hated wearing glasses for 48 years.
It will never ever change.
Like a lot of things, this becomes personal. I have worn glasses since I was 15 (42 now), and most of the glasses I've worn I have like. My my hair long now, I am wearing very small, rectangular, rimless glasses. They hardly show at all, except for the thin gold arms that hold him on my face. I think they look good with my long hair.

Have you tried your eye doctor in recent years? I have a lot of
astigmatism but have had contacts for 20 years--soft lenses with
a "toric" shape. They are thicker at the bottomo so they keep aligned
gravitationally, allowing them to be made with the assymetric shape
needed for astigmatism correction. These are regular products so you
should be able to get them. You will NOT be able to get daily
disposables but those are kind of expensive anyway.

It's not my intention to further confuse your already confused mind. But I think long hair with black-rimmed nerdy glasses LOOK GREAT!
Seriously? Because those glasses are what I wear, and I've had trepidations about having long hair and wearing glasses, because I've never seen anyone like that before. I've tried and failed at contacts, but I am hoping to get that Lasik eye surgery soon...
Yes, in utmost sincerity, that's my humble opinion. I think I'll be trying one out myself and see how it looks. Who knows, I might show myself with it as a new pic on my site :)
Word... thats a good attitude you have there, Jin. Ultimately it's one's attitude that determines whether someone's a nerd or not. So to me, as long as you don't have the matching outfit and pocket protector, it should be ok, hehe.
Attitude has nothing to do with it. I don't consider myself
a nerd, I've had glasses all my life, and had long hair.
The world beleives that if you wear glasses you are a nerd.
I've tried every hair style, every style of glasses, every
clothing style, etc. The bottom line: after all these years of
wearing glasses, it you wear glasses the world thinks you are
a nerd. You say "Ultimately it's one's attitude that determines whether someone's a nerd or not." I never wear the
"trademarks" of nerdiness, still with glasses i'm labeled as
a nerd.
In that case, you might as well go for the downright most blatantly in-your-face-nerd-mania glasses you can get, and you can't go wrong with the Buddy Holly coke-rims. Those are what I got, and people like them! I think it's because of the punk-emo craze that's been going on lately, with all these dudes wearing these glasses. But I'll be one of the few with long hair.
By the way, Jin, what nationality are you? Singapore-an? Sorry, I don't know the term! I'm Korean, so y'know, it's cool to know of other asians/orientals with long hair.
Yes bud, I'm a Singaporean (LOL). Nice to know of another asian hanging around here :)
Well done Jin,
Your hair is a lot longer than in your earlier pix.
Keep it up
Charles
Thanks, Charles. BTW, are you the Charles from Malaysia??
Yup! Just up north.

After wearing glasses for close to 50 years I've come to the
painful conclusion that with long hair no glases on earth look
good. I look like a nerd, no matter how you slice it.
Remember the old addage: "Girls seldom make passes at guys who
wear glasses."
How about rim-less glasses?
Don't forget about Langley of the X-files!
Personally I feel glasses spoil the look of a person's face but is an unfortunate neccesity for most people who are shortsighted.
Contact lenses might be a good bet of you can put up with the problems they present, otherwise why not a light, stylish, metalframe.
Charles
From reading all these responses it seems more a question of self-esteem than actually looking good. Anyway, I've noticed that some glasses look good and others don't and I particularly like sideways ovals.

Remember the HIPPY glasses with the round frames that John Lennon used to wear?
