Hi all:
Admittedly, I am a lurker, but reading many of your threads has helped me greatly, as I am growing my hair out for the first time. For example, just invested in a wide-toothed comb and boar brush after using what I thought was a good enough comb (had those balls on the end....yikes). So thanks for the advice
Anyway, I have been growing my hair out since last July (from a short hair length...around an inch or so). What I'm shooting for is shoulder-length hair, nothing longer; basically want the hair to be resting on the shoulders.
Still in that friendly awkward phase, but it slowly is starting to become less annoying (in fact, my hair practically parts by itelf most mornings after a slick back by the wide tooth).
My question is roughly how many more months will it take for me to achieve the shoulder length I am shooting for?
Thanks in advance for any comments/replies!
Depends on how fast your hair grows. I'm at 13 months (from January 2007) and it's JUST above the shoulders and appears to be closer to shoulder length when it's wet rather than dry.
Most people I know hit shoulder length by 15-18 months.
I'm so happy to know that you've received good advice here.
From looking at your photo, I would say that to get the sides to shoulder length you might be looking at 12-18 months, depending on how much your waves cause your hair to "shrink"
You will be past the awkward phase long before that.
Keep on growing, and enjoy the journey!

Thanks Franny; is that an additional 12-18 months? Or 12-18 months from last July?
