After thinking long and hard, doing alot of research, and taking alot of things into concideration I am getting ready to book my first surgery, a rhinoplasty, with Dr. Theodore Golden in Michigan.
Here is an example of his work:
http://www.drtheodoreagolden.com/photos.php?procedureID=10&patientID=1
I had a lengthy phone consultation with the him and he said he can give me a nose similiar to this girl's after nose.
He is a well known rhinoplasty specialist, the only procedures he does are on the nose, chin and eyes. and he has been doing this for over 25 years. He has very good before and after pics and has a very good reputation.
This will cost me about $7600 including cost to travel (round trip ticket and hotel room for 6 nights). Next weekend I will muster all my cash into one account to make sure I have all the money I need and then will book the surgery for this June. This will cost me everything I have probabily, but will be WELL worth it to get a nose like that!
I'm very excited about this!!! I've waited sooooo long to get this done and the moment is only a few months away!
so what does everyone think of this surgeon's work? (theres other examples on his website as well)
Uh, good luck with that, though I can't see anything wrong with your nose.
But that's your decision I suppose.
Whatever floats your boat, man, but having surgery, and paying that much, I would meet the person before they cut me. Good luck with it.

I think you'll look great! I can tell by the photos that he does great work.
Just take your time and get to know him well so you feel secure. Post some pictures later so we can see how good you look.
Hair pictures would be wonderful to see also.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way.
Before you go through with it, I think you owe yourself at least one session with a counselor. A quick Google revealed that the gowing rate for a psychiatrist is, at the most $300/hr and usually $200/hr. Even if you have several sessions and spend $1000, I think it's worthwhile.
A professional might confirm or deny that you have some kind of real disorder that affects your self-perception, and whether or not altering your appearance is likely to have a positive outcome.
And, assuming you decide to go through with what is, IMHO, totally un-necessary surgery, I wish you a speedy recovery.
Otaku, I was one of the first users here one who, whether being middle-aged or not, decided against your surgeries, note, plural surgeries. And why? Because you want to resemble an anime or Japanese manga character. Right? And the subsequent risk of major infectio.
Fine. What with today's technology, I'm certain that you can attain this. I only wish that you, an impervious entity, attain it without the worry of infection, mutation, and pain. GOODLUCK, OTAHU!

i never mean to discourage you, but personally, i find those broken-down noses very artificial :( (and that girl is no exception)
but,if it will make you feel happier,go for it :)))
His work looks pretty good. I'm sure all will be fine, so good luck to you :)
Remember to have some fun in Michigan while you're there too.
Hey - the important thing is that you are happy - life has too many dificulties - so go for it and be who you want to be and enjoy it to the fullest - only wish I had your strength at your age - I would have been a very different person!
You have my prayers for a great sucess for you.

Hello Otaku !
Your need of surgery sound a bit weird for me beceause I think you look a lot more beautifull than me...
anyway if you think it's the best for you to do this and that you will be better after this surgery then do it. there is no price to be well in your body!
Good luck my friend

Otaku, I wish you the best on whatever you decide to do. You sound really excited.
Do you mind if I ask if you've previously broken your nose or have a medical problem with it? If it's a purely aesthetic thing, to be honest, your nose looks perfectly, well, perfect to me.
Best of luck, whatever you decide, and be true to yourself.

I don't think that you need to see a Psychiatrist at all. I think that you need to be YOU! As I said a long time ago, I think I know what you are trying to achieve and I don't think that you will be happy unless you pursue your goal. Personally, I think that a more feminine nose will look good on you and the surgeon that you have selected seems to do very fine work. Don't listen to the negative stuff, be positive and get what you want out of life. You only have one life to live. Do you want to live it, or, do you want someone else to live it for you? If you want someone else to live your life for you, they will and when it's over you will find out that they never even gave a crap at in the first place. Go forward and never look back. NEVER!
But hey, when you get your new nose, be sure to come back here and show it off.
Best to ya!

If I can guess the reason, as wrong as it may be, if I am right, I agree with this dude here. ^_^ Taking back my previous statement.
The surgeons work looks fine and I wish you best with your forthcoming surgery.
Cheers,

Looks like he does excellent work Otaku. Good luck with the surgery and may you find happiness in the end.

hi there,
I'm just a lurker on this site, but as a man who has had rhinoplasty I thought you might benefit from some advice I got from my plastic surgeon...
Its best to have realistic expectations about what the surgery can accomplish. I had a big nose before the surgery and I still do. However, I was told this by the surgeon at my first meeting with him. He said he couldn't give me a small nose because it wouldn't look right for my face (and ultimately impair my breathing, the improvement of which was another goal of my surgery), but he could improve the overall look. That should be your goal. Most people never suspect I had rhinoplasty and most do not believe me at first if I tell them. I think that is better than having an out of place nose or one that impairs breathing. I think you will need to meet with the surgeon before he can really tell you for sure if he can give you the nose pictured on the site or if that really will be good profile for you.
Also you should know you will have lots of bruising and swelling and it takes a long time for the swelling to go down. For men, it can be a year for the swelling to go down completely.
That said, I had the surgery when I was 18 (I'm 26 now) and I have no regrets. I didn't like my nose when I was a teen and felt it was the first thing people noticed about me. Now, my nose is still a prominent feature on my face, but I feel great and it doesn't bother me, regardless of what other people thing about it. I hope you will feel great also.
Ya know what, I totally forgot that I had a nose job. It was about 25 years ago. Late one night, in a state of drunkenness,I laid my bike down and sustained some rather nasty injurys. I was trying to make a U-turn into a parking lot and hit some loose gravel on the pavement. I had a small piece of bone sticking out of the top of my nose and my nose was over on the side of my face and they put it back together really good. I was a lot younger then and my Mom about freaked when she saw me. My Dad kept telling her not to look at me. The only problem that I had was that every time something touched my nose it felt like a mild electrical shock. I guess there were some sensitive nerve endings. This lasted for a few years, but, gradually went away. It was never a significant problem to begin with. I didn't have any swelling issues. All the swelling went down within a month, or so. I still don't see how they got all that packing up my nose. If you have the surgery, you'll see what I mean.
jeffrey.
