Seems like there is a lot of talk about getting hair cuts or trims. Should I do it? should I wait? What will the neighbors think? What will my cat say? The best advice I have heard was from Doug. He wrote: (CAPS ARE MINE)
"If you're unsure, either cut it just a little (be careful of stylists who don't follow directions), or don't cut it at all. YOU CAN CUT YOUR HAIR AT ANY TIME IF IT BECOMES CERTAIN YOU WANT TO, but growing it back takes a long time.
Why do you hate it? Could you post a picture? It's likely people here will have suggestions for dealing any problems you're having with your hair."
Aside from that it's a personal choice. And I think most of the people here with three years plus would agree it does not make a person "a traitor to the cause" if they decide they want to get a hair cut. In fact your continued presence and experience would still add to the accumulated knowledge of this board.
That said I got the trim on Saturday. She was friggin great. I told her I wanted to remove the damage but I didn't care about it being even. Took about seven minites of her snipping and griping about how she wished her hair was as healthy.
Well to the pics now.

Thanks for your post trim update and it looks great. Just great to read such a positive and rewarding post and you looks like you have a trusted stylist. Always lovely to reach such positive and encouraging news.
Cheers,

TY I try and stay uplifting.
Hi Quester,
Your trim when very well indeed, and your ends are nice and even, and your hair has lots of shine. It should be an uninterrupted journey to waist length, if you wish to grwo it that long.
Keep it growing,
David

As looooong as god can grow it .....
Congrats man! The trim turned out great. It definitely looks much healthier now than before. Keep it growing and take care.
TY Will do!!!
The difference in length is hardly noticeable and now you have fresh healthy ends to enjoy. In the long run this promotes healthy long hair. You made the right decision!
TY I feel good about it.
Looks good, Quester.
I need to get my ends trimmed as well as I have some badly damaged ends.

TY It felt right. Just find some one with a brain and some talent to do it bro.
Very well done indeed. She did a fabulous job, but then again what fabalous hair to work with.
Looks great!
TY My hair is a lot better off than I thought.
GREAT lookin hair after the cut Quester! Your length now is what I'm goin for, with my disablity that's about all I'll be able to take care of.
Thanks for the pics!
Frank
TY she is good eh? Your not to far off from it looks like.
All right, Quester! It turned out great! It's good to hear when a stylist turns green w/ envy over our hair. LOL! Now, about that stopped clock you'd mentioned; was I imagining things, or'd I hear someone say something about Northern Lights? To be read to the tune of the band The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black's seven inch single, "Goin' to Alaska!" And how! LOL!
You did very well, my son,
The other Q.
Thanks Bro. It was a very nice experience. The neighbors clock works though. It goes BONG, BONG, BONG.
Now, *that's* a great trim. I can't imagine it turning out any better. I can't get over how much thicker your ends look.
In my opinion it's no crime to keep the ends looking thick and healthy. On the contrary, it's a very positive thing.
I'm very happy that it went well.

Thanks dear.
This was an excellent post Quester and I agree with Doug.
Although I often recommend against trims not so much the trim itself or any religious thing about hair but people who get carried away and overdo it. You know some see a split end and panic and get 4 inches cut off.
I myself haven't had a trim in over 3 years not for any reason other than I just haven't bothered. Now however my assistant at work has done hair for over 25 years and I'm thinking of going to him for a few inches taken off and my neck cleaned up.
Of course I'll post pics too. May not see much of a difference
though as it will only effect the longest strands as I'm close to terminal length if not there already.
Cool post
Kevin
Thanks man. She was great. It was 3 years for me. be another 2 at least i figure.
Quester, That looks very good, she certainly seemed to listen to you. I am yet to have any trims after 26 months, I guess at some point I will need one and I can only hope that I can find somebody as careful as your hairdresser.
By the way, your mane does indeed look very healthy and superb!
Cheers Dave
TY She is a close friend. She's not really a professinal hairdresser.
