In response to James Raymond's post below, regarding dreams about cutting one's hair, I thought it might be worth mentioning that I (a once-and-future--though not currently--longhaired man) often have dreams in which I pointedly choose to NOT cut my hair. The details vary, but a recurrent, underlying theme is that, in the beginning of the dream, my hair is quite short. As the dream progresses, and as various "storylines" play out, my hair gets longer and longer. Often, I find myself standing in front of the bathroom mirror in my parents' house, brushing my hair for a minute or so. In these dream-moments, I always note how incredibly HAPPY I am about finally representing myself completely authentically to the world, about looking on the outside the way I feel on the inside.
On a side-note, I found the recently posted picture of Brian Fair interesting, as by the end of my most recent "long hair dream," I had hair down to my waist, and some of it had been worked into some really nice, rope-like dreadlocks. Standing outside a beautiful little white-washed cottage atop a seaside cliff in my ancestral Ireland was a nice touch, too :)
Without fail, I always feel a swell of sadness and regret when I awaken to find that my hair is still short. Thanks in great part to the support of this online community, however, that will not be the case for much longer!

Hi Val (and also responding to James' original post),
When my hair was short, I used to occasionally dream it was long; and, conversely, now that it's long, I occasionally dream it's short, --- or, if not literally "short", then at least shortER (or at least some version or another of, "medium-length")...
I think dreams are just reflections of our sub-concsious thoughts while awake.
Interestingly, in none of any of my recent hair dreams have I been upset, --- which is completely opposite from what happened in real life, back when I impulsively cut off my long hair in Y2K. It's as if in my dreams I say to myself, "Oh, well, I guess I'm going through another short hair period in my life!" But then in the same dream I'll say to myself: "Can't wait until it grows back, though!"

A person can learn to control their dreams. I do. It's part of what I do. Takes time though. Anyway after gaining control dreams like that go away.
"Anyway after gaining control dreams like that go away."
...I LIKE having dreams in which my hair is long, and wouldn't want them to go away.

I meant the cutting ones. You can also control them to do what ever you like. Fly, visit a friend, go to the moon. Better than travelausity (sp).
