My friend is braiding my hair friday afternoon(for free) and I was just wondering if I should wash it while its braided. If so with what? just shampoo? conditioner? both? thanks
you'll have a hard time getting it to last past maybe 3 days. Tends to fuzz up in my hair past that. I would suggest sleeping on a satin pillow case during this time(actually a good idea all the time). I would not attempt to wash it. Take a sharp comb tail or something similar and poke the stray hairs that arise back into the braid going with it. If she wets your hair before braiding it will last longer also if she uses some gel in it that should keep it sleeker. tHe tighter the braid and the smaller of sections she uses the longer it will last. The absoloute worst hair to stay is super healthy real thick shiny hair. IT WANTS OUT! Damaged hair stays in much better as does wavy hair. Have fun with your new do!
If you were to wash with a "do-rag" over your head in the shower, just shampoo your head and rinse it, it would minimize damaging the braids. This is what people with braids, dreads, dreads-in-training, and some people with cornrows do. "Do-Rags" are at walmart and pharmacies. If you don't know what I'm talking about, its those things you see black guys wearing. Please, no one respond with racist shit, depending on where you live some people may not be familiar with these.
