Good morning everyone! I have a small problem sometimes of coming home from work and shampooing and conditioning but then getting paged out for a structure, brush, vehicle fire etc. I then have to shower again a couple hours later when I get home. I figure it has got to be better to shampoo and condition again than leave the smoke in there. I was just wondering in circumstances like this if it would be better to just shampoo the second time or go ahead with the whole wash and condition again. I have to at least shampoo so my pillow doesn't stink of smoke. What do you guys think? Brian
You have a good question. I don't think you'd want to do just shampoo, but maybe do conditioner only. Conditioners often have a mild cleanser, and they'd be able to cover the smoky smell. Also, how about trying baking soda then conditioner? Baking soda would help eliminate the odor, too.
I agree with Juli414 - conditioner only will be easier on your hair than shampoo only, particularly if you've already washed your hair within the last day or so. One other thing to consider would be water only, to see if that takes care of the problem. If it doesn't, then add in as small amount of conditioner as you need to cut the smoke smell.

I've only done this a couple of times, when I had skunk scent in my hair (I live in the country), so my method may not be good for regular use. I put about 1/4cup of baking soda in a bowl, then added warm water until it was a loose paste. I then gently poured some over my hair, massaged it in, added a bit more of the solution, etc. I let it set for a while, then rinsed out. This was simply a winging it plan.
I believe that there is at least one person here who uses baking soda washes regularly, they may have a better plan.
