I am 60+(gasp!)and live on the Nevada/California border (Nevada side) near Death Valley.
It is SpringTime here...wildflowers and spring bulbs are in bloom, trees are just ready to leaf out. 87 degrees now.

Wow, gorgeous. When I was a young'un, my mom's parents lived in So. Cal. Over one Easter break we went to Death Valley, it was covered in flowers, having been through one of the wettest winters on record. Kinda made me wonder how the PR people came up with "Death" Valley... ~grin~
Yes, Walter is concealing from us how many flowers Death Valley can have! We, too, went there after a very wet spring, and above is what we found!
Most of the time, though, there are few flowers there, and in many places few plants at all. It indeed looks like a place where everything has died.

I'm 50 and live in Maryland, although I'm from England, but I've been over here a long time. I am a true Southerner, being from the South of England, LOL!
So far in this thread the average age is about 30, and there are about four Americans for every European (nobody yet from anywhere else). Only about one in five of those in the US are on the West coast.
Of course, with the difference in time zones, maybe some people haven't joined the thread yet because they were asleep or WHY, so the bias to the US East coast may be partly the time of day. I know we have more in California, as well as a couple of guys in Canada and a few on other continents that aren't either Europe or North America.

It has been snowy here as well in Nova Scotia, but we always seem to get enough rain to wash it away within days of a snowstorm. Although the ground was mostly bare this AM, the start of another snowstorm is just underway, with about 5-6 inches of heavy wet snow forecast, followed by rain, then a flash freeze tomorrow.

The average mean age is now about 35.
