Hi everyone! I haven't posted in a while on account of an extremely busy school schedule, but I've been lurking and reading posts occasionally.
Tomorrow will mark five months into my "re-growing" journey. For those that don't know what I'm talking about (I'm assuming a lot of you), I'll give a quick recap. I had a pretty plain long hairstyle: just parted hair that was about eight inches long. I went to get it restyled and asked for about 3-4 inches off, but the stupid stylist chopped off about WAY more than I asked for, and I was left with anywhere from 1-2.5 inches of hair on my head.
Not only did she chop off most of my hair, she completely botched the style I asked for. Almost the entire haircut was done with a razor instead of scissors, and on the right side of my head she cut way too deeply with it...so the right side of my head is very patchy, the layers are uneven, and the hairs are completely different lengths.
ANYWAYS...I've been trying desperately hard to grow my hair back, and have been wearing a hat 99% of the time, no matter what I'm doing, in order to hide the funny looking hair on my head.
I have a question though, regarding hair shedding...I know it's normal to shed around 100 hairs a day, but I've been having some weird shedding lately.
It seems that I lose twice as many hairs on the right side of my head (the thin side) then on the left, while the left is continuing to be thick and lustrous...for a while I thought I was making real progress, but I'm getting quite discouraged at this point. My right shoulder often has hairs on it that fall out during the day, whenever I wash my hair, my right hand is covered with hair, while the left often has none...
Also, the right side of my hair had some really patchy spots, but it looks like all the longer hairs have fallen out and it's somehow regressed to the shortest point and become a more uniform length and thinned itself out even more at the same time.
I feel like the hair is so weak and thin on the right side of my head that it's all falling out, and the left continues to grow longer, thicker and stronger...which overall makes for one funny looking head of hair.
Should I be worried about this seemingly abnormal shedding? Has anyone else ever experienced this? I really felt like I was making a ton of progress, and the left side of my hair will be fully grown back within the next five or six months...but it's really impossible for to gauge when, if ever, the right side will be acceptable.
Any advice/encouragement is greatly appreciated!
PS: I'll try to post updated pics soon, but I have a Staph infection on my face right now and I look really funny.
Woah, how in the hell could that happen?!
