Hi All,
Just want to compliment all the amazing photographers here who shared their gorgeous nature pics and scenery shots in MarkS's thread below...
To name just a few folks who shared some very moving pictures of their home-turf scenery:
Gylfi, what a GORGEOUS shot of that B&W Winter Minnesota scene! White Tail, I'm ready to move down to the CA - NV border, that shot is so outstanding!
Jonalbear, that is one cool shot of your back yard as seen from your rooftop!
And not to forget some of our other normally great photogrphers...
Bill, for his incredible Spring flower pics (especially of all teh blue Echium up on Twin Peaks)!!
Jason, for his consistently breath-taking scenes of mountain-climbing in the Appalacians!!
Tristan and James Raymond, for their lovely shots of the beuatiful Rocky Mts of Colorado!!
And how could anyone forget the incomprable pics from Karsten, --- and his creative outdoor pics of HAIR!!!
I'm probably forgetting many, many others who have so generously shared their love of the land that surrounds them, --- and my apologies for not naming those I've forgotten right now!
Anyway, here's a shot of MY "back yard"... (Well, not to be taken LITERALLY (lol), --- since my apartment windows actually look out on the back entrance of a nearby Vietnamese restaurant; instead of this view of the glorious Pacific Ocean, as seen here from above my home city's "Ocean Beach"...)
- Ken in San Francisco
PS - The flowers in this shot are commonly called, "Ice Plants" (the correct Latin botanical name which I'm forgetting right now - lol....)
Hi Ken,
What a breathtaking photo of the California coastline! I WILL get there next year, I promise, and I hope to meet you then, as part of my road trip! Although Nova Scotia has a dreadful climate in the winter and early Spring, it is beautiful in the fall, as can be seen in this picture. (This is a picture from the teebox of one of the holes of my golf course, looking upstream, and I took this photo last October)
Take care,
David
Ken, Beautiful "backyard" you have there.
Great photographer yourself!
peace, jonalbear
About the only pic I could find of "my backyard" is this pic of the Queen Mary I took a couple of nights ago. Pretty much everything else here isn't worth photographing....;}
Great shot...is the Queen Mary still in Long Beach? I was thinking it was moved or was that the "Spruce Goose". I was raised in LA in the forties and fifties and loved the Long Beach area...we used to hang out at "The Pike"...ah, those were the days.
Yeah, that was the Goose, I think they took it to Oregon or something. I actually have no idea what's in the big dome anymore...
Great picture of the beach! I'm going to bet that that's where you do the wind-shots.
Anyways, I don't want to get credit for a photo I didn't take - the photo of Embarrass was not taken by myself, but someone I am acquainted with. It's a common view here since it is taken off of the top of our only bridge.
Thanks for the kind words Ken. What a fabulous beach/ocean shot this is you posted!
The pic is very beautiful. Wasn't quite what I was expecting though.
Gezzz...I don't know why my mind works that way.
