Hi. I'm in the process of growing my hair out and it's an inch shy of my chin now. I have overall straight hair, but the last 2 inches flip outwards and/or forwards. I dont like the look or feel (it curls into my mouth) so I've been using my roommates hair straighener to get rid of these.
I was just wondering if cutting off the ends will get rid of these, or if the newly exposed ends will simply start curling?
Thanks,
Keith
It's going to stay no matter what you do. You're probably going to have wavy hair when it gets longer.
Just deal.
Dang. I used to have long hair, but actually didn't get it cut once for almost 3 years, and it was always like that. I wore a bandana then to keep it under control, but soon I will be getting a professional job so that's sadly not an option. It was wavy, but I was just wondering if the waves are inherent to that exact part of the hair (which happens to be at the ends right now), or if it's more associated with the lack of weight pulling down on the ends.
Keith, you can cut your flips off, but then you'll just have to cut them off again when they grow back. ;)
Even though they're annoying you now, in a couple of months they won't be so bothersome.
Also, as your hair grows longer the wave pattern may change.
Keep growing!

Oh dude...I got the same problem....It's all over straight except the back flips up to almost 90 degrees by my neck. I've tried to straighten it to no avail...Just deal with it, everytime I let it grow in the past, it always had to reach a certain length before the flips calmed down.
I have this same problem, although my hair is about 1-2 inches past my chin at the front. Straightening the hair will damage the ends which isn't very desirable, especially if you intend to grow your hair to a great length. Cutting the ends will solve your problem for now, but the flips will come back as soon as those 2 inches grow back.
I think the only thing to do is simply cope with it. I've decided that I'm simply going to grow my hair until it will actually look *better* having the ends curl around a bit. In my opinion this is a bit more interesting than dead straight hair, so maybe this is a good solution for you as well.
Cheers,
Peter
