As some here might know due to some of my picture (not sure how many people read my posts or whatever but they've been here XD), but I've been a bit of a crazy person when it comes to my hair.
Exhibit a:
Exhibit b:
Just two examples in a long line of hair mishaps and blunders, though I miss the second picture a lot...(probably my favorite hair to date).
Since I've been going to this site and other Long hair sites, my hair ideals have completely changed. I've first off, embraced my curly hair, no longer straighten any parts of it, henna, oil, etc. So the difference between now and then is maddening.
How about anyone else here? Any hair bones in the closet? XD
I once bleached my 6 (maybe 9) months of growth using 'Blondissima' (or something like it)- which was long for me back then. I didn't know I was supposed to put a colouring agent in to replace the striped away natural softeners. Man! My hair felt like straw! Like wet Barbie hair! (I couldn't even run my fingers through it!)
I thought it looked cool, once it started to soften up with copious amounts of conditioner, but it actually made my dad cry!
I was in my last year of high school, in the drama club, in band, had not had a lot of girlfriends and had many girl friends. I was (and am) flamboyant and not a whole lot into sports (unless I find figure skating on TV). In retrospect, I think my dad saw it as the first signs of a coming out party.
Funny.
I've never swung that way, but I guess I can see how someone could have assumed it of me.
Anyway, I dyed it purple for a couple day before deciding that my dad was going to have a stroke if I didn't stop stressing him out so much. I then dyed it brown and never looked back.
Now that I've spent so much time in growing my hair, though, I am reluctant to do anything that might damage it. No more colour for me even though my wife and daughter are commenting on my encroaching bright whites (and I don't mean teeth). Heck! I'm even getting whites in my beard!
Looking forward to long curly (and someday white) Manlocks,
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
Shawn, this posting is useless without pictures!! LOL!
Sadly, major portions of my life went un-chronicled: no pictures from my military days, no pictures of my blonde hair and, thankfully, no pictures from my days modelling for the art department while a student.
Ha!
