In my three years of having long hair, I have changed my routine countless times, because they tend to work for a period of time and then stop working and I get frustrated. So I am curious what everyone else does.
A few things have remained consistent in mine:
Switch between Aussie shampoo and conditioner and Infusium 23 shampoo and conditioner. I switch between the two brands once or twice a week.
Rinse with cold water before I get out of the shower.
Wash every day. (I have oily hair. I have tried several times to skip days, it never works out for me.)
I always let it air dry.
This is my current routine:
Shower in the evening.
Shampoo, make sure to wash all hair including ends. (I used to only wash the scalp... I recently realized that didn't work too well.)
Rinse thoroughly.
Condition ends and lower half of hair. Condition rest of hair but try to minimize how much I use on my scalp.
Leave conditioner in while I wash the rest of my body.
Rinse thoroughly.
Rinse in very cold water for 10-20 seconds.
Let air dry. After 5-10 minutes, carefully comb using a wide-toothed comb.
After it's FULLY dried, brush. This can wait until morning though.
In the morning, I use my widetoothed comb. Then apply jojoba oil to the ends, and brush through using a boar bristle brush. Then use a normal brush.
That may have been a little too detailed, but I've noticed changing little things in the routine makes a huge difference.
I haven't been at this hair care as long as you Jake, here's mine:
Shampoo/Condition 2 week with Tea Tree organic products and Jojoba oil just on the lower 1/3 of hair, wide tooth comb, air dry and little brushing.
1 day of the week just Tea Tree Conditioner, rinse cool water, Jojoba oil the lower 1/3 of my hair, comb, air dry and brush.
I'm amazed at how much better my hair texture and look is in just 1 1/2 months, especially with the Jojoba oil, it's great stuff.

I wash my hair each sunday with nature cosmetic shampoo or with self-made shampoo, let it air-dry and then comb it with a big-toothed wooden comb and when it gets oily I brush it with a bit cocos nut oil and a wild pig brush.
Greetings
Haha, funny. We almost have the same exact routine when I had my longer hair. Here is what I used to do though:
Shower in hot, then tune it to warm
Shampoo my hair with Treseme
Use a comb (wide end) and comb shampoo through hair
Rinse
Condition all of hair and scalp (I have very dry hair)
Comb through (this time with thin end) and whatever conditioner comes off of the come I would just glob it back on my head. lol
Wash my body while hair is conditioning
Rinse in cold water to make shiny hair
Then, air dry and BAM BAM BAM--DONE! FINISE!
Tyler ;) Cheers
I shampoo only once a week (late afteroon or evening), rotating among different brands of shampoo and then using a deep conditioner (Garnier, Neutrogena, or Pantene). I towel dry briefly, then apply Garnier leave-in conditioner, gently use a pick to detangle, then immediately braid it until the next morning. Then I brush it, and apply jojoba oil/Infusium 23/Neutrogena Shine Serum throughout the week as needed. Hope this helps!
OOPS--FORGOT TO MENTION I ALSO USE HENNA EVERY 3 WEEKS.
Regular Shower - about 3 or 4 times a week
Shampoo with Lush Trichomania just on top of scalp, lather and run lather through lower part of hair, rinse.
Apply Suave Professionals volumizing conditioner to ends and near the scalp towards the back of my head, leave in while I wash body and face
Dry off body, throw on bathrobe and wrap head in towel for about 15 minutes, take off towel and very gently brush out hair from ends to scalp with a wide toothed brush/comb (its kinda a cross between the two) pulling brush out if it gets cuaght in any tangles and trying a little lower and working up again.
Let hair air dry for about 30 minutes then go through it again with a wide tooth comb
ta da!
After swimming laps at the gym:
Shampoo with suave raspberry shampoo and conditioner since it gets the clorine smell out and I dont need to worry about over washing since its kind of a weak shampoo and conditioner. follow same brushing and combing technique as above.
