I've begun to wear three hair ties to help cut (hate that word) down on the tangles. Right now three seems to be quite comfortable. Using small soft scrunchie hair ties so I only have to wrap each around the tail once.

That seems to work really well I should try it as my hair gets
in the way at work sometimes not to mention tangled by the end
of the day.
Not as much fun as your usual photos but spring will be here
soon.

I do this too. I have taken it to the extreme and it has paid off well for me. My hair is well over 3 feet long. I currently use 10 or 11. It is doubtful that I would have even half this length without using multiple hair ties. My hair is VERY fragile, quite fine, and very tangle prone. Take a good look at 19th century photos of Native Americans and notice that they wrapped their hair to protect it. This method works very well and could get you an additional foot of length, I kid you not.
I keep my hair in multiple ties all the time now. It is much easier than braiding. I have included a photo.

Hi Karsten, I'm glad you brought this subject up. It seems like the only way to keep your hair from tangles. My hair looks to be just a tad shorter than yours but basically almost the same. I wear 3 ties to work everyday. The ones I use are the no slip ones and they seem to work well. I try to be gentle with my hair, it really hurts my heart when it breaks. I try to gently get a brush through it and use my fingers to take out the tangles but there are always places that wont come apart without breaking UGHHHHHH I hate that! The hair ties really help
The worst is when I perform. I am the Frontman for an Allman Brothers Tribute Band. The guys like me to wear my hair out for a gig for the look but, it takes me hours after a gig to get out all the tangles. I recently tried a protien treatment (ION emergency repair)Jury is still out but, it didnt seem to do much good. Anybody have suggestions for a great conditioner?

Anybody have suggestions for a great conditioner?
Try Neutrogena Triple Moisture Healing Serum ... CVS Pharmacy has it for about $7.oo a bottle, but I have found it really helps to keep my mane smooth and cut (hate that word again) down on the tangles.
Looks Like a winner Karsten. I'm gonna give it a try. A few years back, I started using these products called Nioxin because my hair was starting to get a little thin in one spot in the front. After using the Nioxin Shampoo and conditioner, my hair never got any worse. I dont know whether to contribute it to the product or that that was just all the hair I was destined to lose.None the less thats why I haven't really tried other conditioners. Maybe I will try others and still use the Nioxin from time to time.......Now watch me go bald in front..........................hahahahahahahah

That's a very efficient solution, and it looks great too. Good choice with the hair ties, as well.

Hi Karsten
Your hair is looking awesome these days, and those multiple ties are the perfect solution to protect your hair from damage. You are really close to waist length hair, a distant dream of mine! I was wondering how long it has taken you to grow it this long?
Keep it growing,
David

This is about 5 years of growth. I do get a trim every 3 or 4 months so it's not as long as it could be but I think it's in better shape had I not had the trims - a win/lose situation.
Multiple hair ties are definitely a good solution to prevent tangling and hair going everywhere; I sometimes use them all down the length (five of them) during workouts, although I prefer a braid, for various reasons.
BTW, I think I use the same ties as you; I like the fact that they tend to become less tight with use, and so I can have some tight ones for workouts and loose ones (less stressing) for everyday.
Regards
Alessandro
Your hair continues to look great. I'm not as far along the growth path (yet!) as you are, but I also use multiple hairties. The segmented tail is my standard "do", as I need to keep my hair restrained and "professional" for work.

Hello Karsten, your hair looks super and the multiple ties look perfect. How much do you get trimmed off each time you have your 3 to 4 months trim...just curious.
Cheers,
Max

I just get just the ends cleaned up (maybe 1/8"), my stylist knows I'm going for at least waist length so I trust him to only trim what is really needed. Nobody ever notices any difference in length after I get a trim - so that's good.

Your hair looks wonderful! I -Love- the segmented ponytail look, especially on guys because its very neat but it also shows how long their hair really is which is a huge bonus :)
My addition :)
Using six ties...
