This is gonna be my last update guys, I've decided that I want a change and I'm going to get a haircut. I've been thinking about it and have been tempted on and off for months now and well that means something. I found old pictures of me with short hair and I looked fine and to be honest if I regret the decision I'll simply grow my hair back its no big deal. I have no intentions of stressing over it. Anyways I took these yesterday to remember the longest I ever got my hair and its longer than I ever expected thanks guys.

Well, as a very wise teacher of mine once said, "The only thing permanent in life is change!"
Your hair looks GREAT; but, it is *your* hair to do with as you wish... including going back to short. When I impulsively cut my waist-length hair back in Y2K, it truly devastated me at the time; but, you sound neither impulsive about this decision, nor do you have the same length I had back then (meaning, the longer your hair is, the more the loss will be seriously felt if you end up regretting it).
We're all different here. I fully support your decision, because it sounds like you've thought it through very thoroughly, and you simply sound like you feel ready for a change. Although I am saddened to see such a nice head of hair such as yours go, I understand, --- and who knows, this haircut might be exactly what will convince you to re-grow, and then commit to long hair for life (as my Y2K cut did for me)!
My best to you!!
- Ken in San Francisco
Thanks Ken, and your right who knows maybe I will grow back; permanently. Only time can tell, good luck to you hopefully terminal length is very far away for you.

...at your age you should be experimenting with life's adventures...
Good Luck to you and drop in on the board once in a while.
Thanks for sharing your Long Hair Journey.
Walter
Exactly what I am thinking. Thank you Walter!

That sadens me to hear because your hair has definately been an inspiration to me. A few weeks ago I also found a picture of me that I hadn´t seen, when my hair was short. So I know how you feel! Though I decided to keep on growing.
Ah well, as you said, you can always grow it back if you want it long again. I hope you are happy with your new hairstyle!
/Erik
Thanks Erik, I'm glad I inspired someone with my 16 months here. Good luck to you dude.

You sound contended with your decision. Having long hair is all about choice, the freedom to do what makes you the happiest. You grew your hair long because it's something that you wanted to do. If short hair makes you happy now, then you've got to do it.
Bruce
Thanks Bruce. I hope you continue to do what makes YOU happy.

You have a good atttude about it and although your updates will be missed I wish you the best.
Take care
Kevin
Thanks Kevin! Good luck with your journey even though as I remember you've been growing for over a decade!

Hi Animosity
Your decision saddened me. But, if it makes you happier, do it !
You have a good attitude about it, I think. Come back here occasionally to say hello !
Bye
Vivien
Thanks Vivien good luck with your mane, it was an inspiration to me.

Hey Animositty! I understand exactly how you feel, i know that i will probably go back to short hair someday myself, but hopefully not for a few years at least, i'm intented to keep it growng until i reach my goal of midback of midback or longer. Of course it's nice with a change sometimes, and i know that i look very good with short, but it feels like i want to get really long hair at least once in my life:)
Anyway, it's been fun following your updates, and hope that your new haircut will turn out nice, seeya!
I wish you all the luck man, keep growing if thats what you want. Thanks a lot.

Hi Animosity,
Great to hear from you and always a wonderful pleasure to see your updated pictures and to see how you hair journey is going. You have shown great inspiration and the condition of your hair is excellent.
I certainly have to agree with Ken's wise old teacher and nothing will remain the same forever. As you say your comfortable with how you hair used to look when it wasn't as long and if it's not for you just simply don't cut it let it grow again.
Perhaps sometimes I wished I would have grown my hair out at younger age but I'm happy now and you've got many many hairfarming growing days to come.
As we say over here keep in touch and don't be a stranger.
Cheers,
John.B
Thank you John.B I will visit from time to time and will most likely consider growing it out again in the future after all I'm still very young.

Hi animosity,
I admit to being a bit saddened when I heard that you plan to cut, since your hair has always been such an inspiration to many guys growing their hair out. However, the important thing is that you do what makes YOU happy! Also, you will always be welcome in our community!
Take care,
David
Thank you very much David.

Hey animosity it so saddens me to read that you are giving up on the longhair:( However as its been stated already in the responses you do what makes you happy.Unfortunately if you hang around this board for a period of time like I have the number of fallen longhairs can start to be a big number.I've seen many a great longhair write here telling of their decision to cut off their locks.Thats the only part of being here that I dislike.Fortunately there are more pluses than minuses to participating on the mlhh.Keep the faith and good luck with your future endeavors.Mark
I'm sorry to hear that and I know it may be discouraging to have so many people choose to cut but don't let others choices influence what you want. Thats why I'm cutting, I want to make myself happier not fulfill goals of others here sadly.
-animosity
Thanks for understanding and for those who are saddened don't be. I see it this way, many feel that cutting is like failure to your goal but I never had a real goal. I wanted to expierience long hair and for me this was long hair and was a great experience. I want to go back to a shorter style not a buzz cut obviously. I'm young and can grow back though, come on people. Change is the spice of life, live life and just be happy for me. Not one sad person please haha, and good luck to the rest of you in growing because it is what YOU guys want.

Sorry to hear this, Animosity, but it is your decision and your life. You have to do what you have to do. Nothing wrong with that at all. All the best, and hopefully you'll still contribute to the site now and then. =)
-James
I'll do my best to stick around, and who knows maybe I'll be growing it back in the future. I won't forget about the hyper board or the help I've gotten here.
-animosity
I know that many on this board would be opposed to this idea, but let us know how the cut turns out or even provide pics.
I will man and I don't want anyone to be disappointed after all you all still have what makes you happy this will make me happy.
-animosity
happy. There is not much point in having it long if you are not happy with it. You do have the most ideal hair to grow really long, and who knows, you may want to do so in 5 or 10 years. When I was young, I did not like my hair long either, and kept it fairly short to very short. I finally started growing it long in my late 30s. I wish you the best, whatever you decide.
Scott
I'm only 17 Scott, I've got my whole life ahead of me I want to try new things. I can always grow it back!
-animosity
You have to do what you have to do. It is after all your hair.
The frustrating thing about this is it seems that all the guys
that cut thier hair have awesome to kill for long hair and
those of us who want to have long hair forever have crappy hair.
OK i've vented. Such is life.
Sorry bro but yeah thats life, be happy with what you've got. I bet you have perfectly fine hair don't sweat it.

Hi
animosity
You have FANTASTIC hair for sure but it sounds to me that you have made your mind up to have it cut off id have to say im disapointed though but its your choice to do that and ill support you on what ever choice you make but please post a picture of your new look ( Your Short Look ) as id like to see what becamre of that beautiful hair you once had good luck what you decide.
Axel
I'll be posting a picture of it today and don't worry it won't be too short I just really want a nice change.

Hi Animosity,
In a way I hate to hear you're cutting, but you have to follow what you think best. The good thing -- if you grew that much hair in sixteen months, then regrowing will be an easy task when you do decide, if you do decide, to go that route again.
I am happy to see some good books on your shelf too. ;-) I have that same copy of Narnia.
I hope you'll still post from time to time and keep us apprised as to how you're doing.
Best of luck in everything. Another good thing -- I'm sure you will look really nice still when you do cut your hair.
Matt B.
I love to read a good book every now and then but they're kinda hard to come by. Also thank you for the encouragement about my fast growth time, its only hair I can always grow it back.

My belief is that being a long hair is an atitude not just a look. I guess thats because I am a child of the 60's. Having long hair is something you are, not something you wear
I spent many years playing the corporate game, trying to get promoted to management in my company, so long hair was out. One day I woke up and said "no more playing the corporate game" Why should the length of my hair have anything to do with how I do my job. I am also a musician and enjoy my look and living free. Yes I do still have to make money to live. Unfortunatly being a musician has never made me enough money to quit my 9 to 5. That being said if anybody in my company ever tries to discriminate against me because I am a long hair, they are going to have one hell of a court battle
Dude, are you a long hair because it's a look you decided to try or because it's a lifestyle you believe in? If it's the latter I think you might really regret cutting your hair. Oh well as has been said, at least it will grow back fast.
I hope I have made some sense with my ramblings. It's not an easy thing to try and put into words.
Todd B.
Don;t worry man, I will not regret it. I don't believe in lifestyles I believe in trying new things and getting new experiences. Worst comes to worst I can regrow its cool.
-animosity
I would try to convince you other wise but it seems as if you have your mind set on cutting it. Just do whatever makes you happy man, thats what counts. Good luck and don't be a stranger now!
