Hello y'all!
Well, it's time for my monthly update, and this month is from another special location -- Jamaica. I'm still down here, actually, and I must say that it has been an interesting, yet very delightful vacation. I'll be headed back up to Washington DC on Friday and then returning to Indiana on Saturday. These photos have not yet been posted on my site, but I will likely do that sometime this weekend.
There are a bunch more photos that I will get around to editing later. Until then, I hope you all are well. As always, comments and questions are welcome. I've also added a new feature to my site that maps out every location I've ever traveled in the world, including every county in the US and Canada (yes, I'm quite the intense traveler). =)
Thanks!
-James
Nice vacation spot! And here I thought 40 degrees felt tropical...
Great update, James. The braid is, in my opinion, the best picture. It's amazingly long and really shows off your highlights.
Mouse
Thanks, Mouse! Yeah, I thought 40 was warm, too... Though the afternoons here have been a bit on the hot side (85-90), so maybe we can find a happy medium and call it good. Hope you're doing well in the frozen north. =)
-James
Hi James looks great! That is your hair and the vacation spot:)Fortunately the winter here on the east coast has not at all been bad otherwise I'd be on a plane out there right now!LOL. Obviously I can see what a traveler you are as I'm looking forward to my trips to CA at the end of April, then Montreal in June.Anyway looks like you are having fun with your hair with the loose look and braids.I kind of like the one of your hair blowing in the wind.Just need a little more smile in that one though:)Well enjoy the rest of your trip and look forward to some more pics.Mark
Thanks a lot, Mark. It's been quite nice down here, but California also sounds like a blast. I don't get out there often enough, even though my sister and cousin live out there. Ah well...
Have a great time on your trips, as well. =)
-James
Looking great!! Keep it growing.
Hi James,
I can tell you are having a fabulous time in this warm and sunny climate of Jamaica, and I am sure you are VERY happy to get away from all the snow and cold! Your hair is coming along very well, and you are really looking like a long hair now. Congrtulations on a such a good job braiding, something I have not been able to master! That is a great addition to your web page! Keep up the graet growth to your waist length goal, and have a wonderful vacation!
Take care,
David
Hey, thanks, David! It has been a wonderful getaway, but all good things must come to an end eventually, and I'll be returning to the proverbial land of the ice and snow. =P
Anyways, hope you are doing quite well yourself, and that things are good up north.
-James
Good healthy progress it looks like. Interesting travel maps too.
Thanks, Steve. Those maps took forever to make! Phew! Anyways, hope all is well for you. =)
-James
Greetings James, my you certainly do get around...good for you and you are showing great progress hair-wise! And great braids too! Those windy shots really show off your length, keep up the good work!
Cheers, Max
Thanks a bunch, Max. I'm trying my best with everything. Hope all is well for you. =)
-James
Gotta say that fourth pic is wonderful....reminds me of Heath Ledger...who was one of my first reasons to love men with long hair :P Keep it growing, it looks Great!
Hehe... thank you, Kett! Haven't heard that comparison yet, but it's a very nice compliment. Stay well. =)
-James
Yeah, ye be lookin' GOOD, Mon..
Your Hair looks great (love the windy shots), Jamaica always looks great..I can smell the tropical scents and sea air !
Thanks for Sharing
Walter White Tail
Ja, thanks, mon! I be enjoyin dat sea air very much. Hope all be well wit you, mon. =)
-James
in photo 4.
Hi James, it looks like your hair may need a bit of conditioner here. Sun, salt, and wind can do damage to your hair. Go ahead and have fun but be sure to take really good care of your hair too, especially if you plan to grow it really long. Enjoy your vacation.
Scott
I had just gotten out of the water shortly before that picture was taken, however I did wash my hair and condition thoroughly when I returned to the hotel, so no worries. ;)
Hope you're doing quite well, Scott. See you around the board... =)
-James
Hi
James great set of photos from u I have two questions for you
1/ Id like to know how long have you been wearing a braid and is that your main look ?
2/ Are you planning on coming to England in the future ?
I hope you continue with your updates as they are very interesting
Axel
Hey Axel! Good to see you posting on the site again. To answer your questions...
1. The braid was actually done by my friend Lindsey, who came to Jamaica with me. I still haven't mastered braiding yet, so it isn't my main look. I usually just wear it down or in a ponytail.
2. I haven't made any official plans, but I have brought up the idea of London for next year's Spring Break with a couple of my friends. It just depends on how much money I can save prior, as it's such an expensive place.
Hope you're doing well. =)
-James
Looks great over there James, warm, sunny, relaxing, mmmmmm.
Your hair is excellent, and it certainly is versatile.
Thanks for posting, Dave
Thank you very much, Dave. I'd certainly recommend Jamaica as a vacation spot, but instead of Montego Bay, which is where I am, I've heard that Negril is much better. Still, for going on the cheap, which is what we did, MoBay is a pretty good spot. =)
-James
Hey James,
Nice update and enjoy your vacation over there!
Vincent
Thanks a lot, Vincent! Welcome to the site, and your hair is progressing quite nicely. Apologies for not responding to your post below, but your hair is looking great so far. Keep it growing and hope all is well with you. =)
-James
This is as good as a reply to my own thread as long as I read it it's fine. Everything is ok with me.
You are quite the traveller! Frankly, I don't see how you keep up with your school work and do all that going. I wish I was that smart!
Looks like you're enjoying yourself. Just don't have too many Red Stripes, and you ought to be OK. Never been to Jamaica, but I've heard it was a beautiful place; the pictures confirm it. May you get back home safely and look forward to more pictures.
Matt B. (Who is at home on his spring break writing research projects!)
Hey Matt! Thankfully, it's nice that I'm not taking traditional classes this semester, so I don't have quite as much work as a normal 5-class semester. Haven't had too many Red Stripes, but there hasn't exactly been a shortage around here, if you catch my drift. ;)
Don't work too hard on your projects, and do take some time for a little relaxation, if possible. Hope you're doing well, Matt. =)
-James
B-b-but....you were supposed to stuff me in our suitcase when you were in Washington! I CAN FIT I SWEAR! =P I kid...Jamaica looks awesome, as does your hair. ^.^
Have FUN and...eat a pineapple for me.

Tristram
I'm sorry, I completely forgot the plan, Tristram! But definitely try to get down here sometime. It's a great place, and I'm sure you'd enjoy it very much. Also, I didn't realize you lived in the Washington area. Next time I'm there, we should meet up or something. Hope all is well with you (great theater pics below, btw). Looking forward to your next update. =)
-James
=P It's certainly on my list of places to go...right after I get to Italy. Yeaaa! next time you're near DC fire me off an e-mail and we can try and have coffee or somthing. =) Thank for the comment on the pics! ^.^
Enjoy the rest of your trip!
<3
Tristan
I'll be in DC Friday night, but only for a short time, as I fly out early Saturday. However, definitely the next time around I'll let you know. See ya later... ;)
-James
Here I am up to my as in snow and ice and your in sunny warm Jamaica having a good time.......You suck!!
LOL
Well ok you don't suck and I'll stop by your site to see the rest of the pics. Glad you had a good time.
Kevin
I toyed with the idea of getting them, but then decided against it. However, I have had several people along the street offer to do them for me. =P
Anyways, take some time and go tropical, Kevin. You'll thank yourself. ;) Hope you're doing very well.
-James
Are you sure they weren't offering to do the corn row braids? Those are the ones they usually do in all the carribean countries. They will try to get 5x's what they are worth if you let them get away with it. Those women that can braid can make great money off the tourists doing them braids.
Todd
Jamaica looks awesome man, and so does your hair. Your getting some real nice length, keep it up and thanks for your words about me cutting hah.
Hey, thank you very much, Animosity. Still, it's a shame to hear you're cutting, as you do have some of the best hair on this board, but that's your decision and there's nothing wrong with that. =)
Anyways, I have seen plenty of Canadians down here, so you'd be in good company if you ever visited. It's a nice place. Hope you're doing well otherwise. =)
-James
James, "Jamaica Say you Will", oh thats right you're to young to remember that great Jackson Browne tune. Anyway your hair looks gorgeous "These Days"! Oh sorry another Jackson Brown song reference!
peace, jonalbear
Oh, I know of Jackson Brown, but I just have never listened to his music. However, you've gotten me curious... hmm... =)
Hope you're doing well, Jonalbear, and thank you.
-James
James, Check out Browne's first album. "Saturate Before Using"
peace, jonalbear
What beautiful surroundings for an update. Your hair again has a very noticeable increase in length. I especially like that braid pic. I do believe you've mastered the art.
I wish I could claim credit for that braid, but my friend Lindsey did it for me. I did successfully make one last night, after about 5 failed attempts. It'll happen sooner or later, though. Thanks for the compliments, Jason, and looking forward to your next update. Stay well, my friend. =)
-James
What an awesome update, James! I can't believe you went all the way to an exotic location just to do these lovely update photos for us. ;)
You and your hair look great. You look really happy and relaxed too. I love the varying colours in your braid.
Thanks for such a wonderful update and have a great time!
Franny
My Hair Site
Hahahaha! It's all for you guys... Do I get some sort of tax write-off for this? If so, that would be awesome!
Anyways, thank you very much, Franny. Your hair is looking wonderful, as well, and I look forward to seeing your next set of update pics. Stay well. =)
-James
Wonderful pictures James! Thank you for allowing us to travel thru your eyes (or lens). Your hair is lookin' great btw!
Keep on growin' (and going)
Bruce
Thank you very much, Bruce! It's very much a pleasure to share my journeys with everyone here. I don't get the opportunity much to do so otherwise. Hope you're doing well, and that your hair is growing quickly. =)
-James
Great update James and is your hair ever taking off now like never before! The longer it gets the faster it seems to be growing. Magnificent!
Take care
Justin~
Thanks, Justin! I really appreciate your comments, as always. I hope you are doing quite well and your week is going smoothly. Best regards. =)
-James
Great shots of sun-kissed, copper-toned manlocks, James!
The variety of styles is really somethings and I must say that the braiding is impressive. Did you manage that by yourself or were you given a hand in it?
Enjoy the sunshine and the water.
Have a safe return and keep on growing. You are looking really good with long hair.
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
Hahaha! Something like that, Shawn... it's been a great time down here, and unfortunately I can't take credit for the braid. That was the work of my friend, who is down here with me (and sitting right next to me currently). However, I am practicing, so eventually I will be able to do those with no problem. Hope all is well with you. Thank you for the compliments. =)
-James
Hey James! Looks like you're having a really good time there in Jamaica, i'm quite envious actually, lol:D
Your hair is making great progress too, the length is noticeable especially when braided.
Take care!
Simon
Hehe... thank you, Simon! It's been a blast down here, and you would have a wonderful time, no doubt. Hope you're doing well in the frozen north of Sweden. =P Also, hopefully we can chat a little later, perhaps sometime next week when I'm back at university. Until then, stay well. =)
-James
Hi James,
Ah ha mystery solved and it looks like you had a wonderful time and a great set of update pictures. I've never to Jamaica but it's certainly one of the places I would like to visit. But I would certainly recommend going to Barbados as that's certainly a lovely place to visit and they have wonderful rum cocktails.
I just I'd of had the cash to visit all these places when I was at college.
Always a pleasure to see you updates my friend.
Cheers,
John.B
Thank you ever so much, John! I would very much recommend coming here at some point, if you get the chance. Barbados is really the only other Caribbean location I'd like to visit, so hopefully someday it'll happen. Again, thank you for the compliments and I hope all is well for you. =)
-James
Awesome Update !!! Got to have Kaya now?
LOL nope! But thank you for the compliment, Quester. Hope all is well for you. =)
-James
Hi James!
Wow! Yet another set of extraordinary pictures. Your hair is looking marvelous, as usual. I hope you had fun in Jamaica and thanks for sharing such a great update with us. Take care.
Thank you very much, Chris. It was a great time, and it's always a pleasure to share my pics with you all. Hope you're doing well. =)
-James
