I've posted a couple of times here about my history of having good luck since I've started growing my hair in 2006. With St. Patrick's day coming up, I thought I'd share my current story.
Well - last week I had my annual spring shearing (the beard comes off for the summer) and had the barber take about 1/4" off of the bottom of my hair which is now nicely at shoulder length. He's a great guy and only cuts the absolute minimum as we work to even the ends out.
The next day, my oil furnace quit (just pressed the reset button and it started back up and is still running) and my hot water heater quit (I've now replaced both thermostats - fingers crossed). I've also mis-placed my camera so that I can't take an update picture to share ..... My wife is now starting to get on my case to stop getting trims every 4 months. Not that she likes my hair, she just dis-likes bad luck even more.
I hope that's the end of it - quite a price to pay for a 1/4" trim though.
Happy St. Paddy's day to all the Irish - and remember - everyone's Irish on St. Paddy's day. I would like to find out though who decided to put one of the best drinking and eating holidays right in the middle of Lent though .....

Maybe it would be best not to trim it at all, to improve your luck, Andrew. Or maybe it was just a coincidence.
It would seem that the devil is in the details with this one, trying to lead faithful Catholics astray.

It turns out that my teen-aged daughter had been using it and "forgot" to put it back. Oh and the hot water heater seems to be fine now.
Here's the 20 month update:

I'd also like to wish everyone a Happy St.
Paddy's Day for tomorrow. I'm Irish on my mother's side, going back many generations. My grandfather had a slight Irish accent, although he wasn't born in Ireland either. I suppose he was technically a catholic, although I don't think he often saw the inside of a church, but I'm not, so I needn't worry about lent. I don't believe in religion, myself. Of course, you could argue that if I don't believe in religion I shouldn't celebrate St. Patrick's Day, but I won't let that worry me!
