Hello all,
Been awhile since I posted. I do read the board frequently, but just been very busy, so I don't post very much anymore.
I am in Salt Lake City UT this week attending Novell BrainShare. Lots of long hairs here too. :-) Now if only I could get them to join up on the board. Maybe I need to put the URL to the board in the bathroom stalls. LOL
Since it may be awhile if I post again, Thanks to any replies in advanced. Glad to see everyone is doing well, and keep it growing long!!!
Mike
Enjoying a rack of servers. :-)
I tend to think of everybody as their picture shows without considering how much time has passed. Time has really passed since your photo as your length attests. Your hair looks great Mike and has really settled down as it has gotten longer. I bet you turned heads at the conference. :-)
Elizabeth
Elizabeth,
It has been a long time since I posted an update. I figure two years. Hard to say if I turned any heads, but I hope people have noticed. :-) I haven't gotten any negative feed back, and I am sure people can pick me out with no issues.
Mike
So may your hair grow long as the servers' circuits!
Looking good there, and the beard too!
Alessandro
Alessandro,
Thanks for the comments! Glad you like the beard too!
Mike
Chill'n by the teepee...
You have a good head of hair there, Mike. I had no idea it was that long. It looks great.
I really like the idea of writing the URL on the restroom walls. I would like to see some new faces here.
Scott
Some online groups I've been involved with in the past have posted PDF versions of a business/calling card for members to print off and hand out to potential new members.
Just a thot.
AndrewB
Andrew,
I've though about printing up business cards for the MLHH and passing them out to other longhairs. I just worry, I may get odd responses from doing so.
Mike
Scott,
Thanks for the comments. It really has grown out long. Not as long as yours tho, but you never know, it may get that long.
Mike
Hey Mike... Looking real good. Didn't realize your hair's gotten that long!
--Rick
Rick,
We probably have the same length hair, as we both started growing it out about the same time.
Mine has to be mid back if not longer. How far does hair reach down your back?
Mike
Mine is approximately 3/4 down to my belt. That's where it starts tapering off. I do have a few hairs that go almost to my belt. My ponytail is 20", measured from the hair band to the ends of the longest hairs. Not too bad in 4 years!
--Rick
Hello Mike,
Like the other's replies, I had no idea it was that long ! Great hair !
If I remember rigth, you had problems with receding hairline or balding ? How did it go finally ?
Bye
Vivien
Vivien,
I guess I have shocked a few of you guys here. I guess I am not posting enough updates. LOL
I am still battling the receding hairline. I just figure let genetics take their course. I still have some hair left on the front of my head, but it is terminal at 4 to 6 inches. It's trained to fall back, so when I have my hair tailed, it looks full. I am starting to get a more half tail look when I ware my hair loose.
My sides are still nice and thick tho. So at least I can enjoy them after the rest falls out.
Mike
Your avatar pic really doesn't do the length justice (is there an echo in this thread?). Your hair is really looking good, Mike, and I'm glad you're getting the chance to hang out with other techy longhairs.
Mouse
Mouse,
Maybe I need to put in to get my avatar updated. Nice thing about my current avatar, is that it still looks current when I flip may hair back. I normally wear it back when worn loose. Plus it makes people wonder, how long is Mike's hair. :-)
Thanks again for the nice comments.
Mike
Hi and glad to hear you're having a nice trip in Salt Lake City.
Your hair is great. It has really grown. That's really inspiring for me as we have similar hair lines! ;-)
Hope you make it back to the Old Dominion State safely, and don't be such a stranger.
MB
Matt,
I am having a blast up here. It is so nice to get away from the office and the same old same old. I am learning lots about Novell's current state on their products.
As for the receding, I feel for you. All you can do is let it grow, not like you have to loose the sides and back. How is your hair coming along? You have some nice curls.
Mike
Hey Mike,
Lookin' good there, and I had no idea your hair was that long (your avatar pic is deceptive)!!
I like your idea of putting MLHH's URL on the walls of the bathroom stalls wherever longhairs attend conventions (lol),--- AWESOME idea!!!
Reminds me of when I was in Boy Scouts, at a 2-week backpacking camp called Philmont, in Cimmaron, NM... My tent-mate had a little notebook which he titled, "Latrine Wit & Wisdom", gathering all the scribblings off the outhouse walls, wise or "otherwise" (lol). We could do something like that for MLHH!
Anyway, thanks for sharing your nice update, and I hope you are doing well & happy in your new house!
- Ken in San Francisco
Ken,
That is one of the things I like about my Avatar. It still looks current with the way I wear my hair loose.
There was a guy sitting in front of me during a Novell keynote speech that had hair a lot like SteveNoVA's. Problem is, I am too darn shy to say, "Hey!, you have great hair and you need to come here". I only really open up once I get to know someone. I guess I will have to scribble some on the RR walls.
Mike
looks great man! its gotten very long since your last update keep it up! take care, Mark
Thanks for the comments Mark! Sometimes I get shocked at how long may hair has gotten. A lot of times I am so busy, that I really don't pay attention to the length.
Mike
Looks great!! How Many years ya got in on it?
Quester,
It has to be around 4 to 5 years since I decided to grow it long. I have been trimming off 2 inches every 6 months as the ends start to look really bad. The kicker is, the two inches grew back plus a couple more. I take this as not being at terminal yet. I have been segmenting my tail while attending Novell BrainShare to keep it neater as I feel I am representing my organization. I've noticed, I needed more ties this time. :-)
I let it flow loose during the after party's tho. :-)
Mike
ESDI, I can only copy others in saying that it is time for your avatar to be updated. Your hair looks good. Keep growing it!
Tracy
Tracy,
Thanks for the comments. I really appreciate them. :-)
Mike
Hi Mike,
I am delighted that you have finally posted an update, and I had no idea that it was so long! It also looks as though you still have lots of thickness too. Be sure to keep it growing!
Take care,
David
David,
Thanks for the comments! It sure has been awhile since I last posted an update. Probably a couple of years. I think the last update was when I was up in DC with Chris G.
The only really noticeable thin parts are on the back of my head. From the front, it is really not to noticeable. I remember you and Jeffery had suggested talking to a doc about the thinning. I am still very wary about doing so. I am on a lot of meds for other heath issues, and worry I could really throw something out of wack. I do appreciate both of your suggestions. :-) I am not too worried about going bald. Not like I have to loose the sides and back once the top falls out. ;-)
Mike
Hey Mike...
Good to see ya postin.. Your hair is looking good there. Keep it up for sure...
Tristan
Tristan
Thanks for the comments. I have been pleased with how well my hair looks. I try to take very good care of it. My last trim was during December. The ends didn't far well in the move from getting sweaty, dirty, and tangled. I had to chop two inches off. Maybe I can go a year without a trim this time. We will see.
Mike
Hi Mike
Thanks for posting the pics as its been awhile since I've seen any fresh ones from you.The hair certainly is looking spiffy and very long:)Hope your having a good time at the BrainShare as I'd love to be there but I can't spare any.LOL Take care my friend.
Mark
Mark,
Thanks for the complements! I think my hair looks great too. I am having a blast at BrainShare too.
Mike
Hey Mike, that's great hair! And a conference of longhairs? IT is a great field!
Ed
Ed,
Glad you like my hair! There are lots of longhairs at this conference, but still, we are the minority. I.T. is a great field to be in, as long as M$ doesn't take over. :-D
Mike
Hi ESDI-80, I am so used to seeing your face on your current avatar, that I was amazed how long your hair had grown!
Excellent, keep it growing dude!!
Cheers Dave
Dave,
It appears I have shock quite a few people with my update. LOL
Thanks again!,
Mike
Your hair is quite long, just like everybody else I didn't thought it was that long :)
Keep it growing!
Vincent,
Surprisingly, my hair is still growing too. I often wonder what my terminal length is.
Mike
Have fun in Utah Mike and good luck recruiting more users.
Take care
Kevin
Kevin,
I am having a blast up here. I did tag a couple of stalls the other day. Lets cross are fingers to see if we snag a few more members. :-)
