Instead of making another reply to your post I decided to start a new thread with this vintage photo of the metal band "Ritual" who I roadied for back in the good ole' 80s.I just thought of it as your new hair style pic made me think of it again.See if you or anyone else here thinks any of these hair styles resembles the one from your post.

It is always fun for me to take a B+W Photo and see if I can make it look as if it was actually shot in colour. This is not my best work by far. I should have spent much more time to make this more convincing which could be done, but here is the quick 1/2 hr. version-result of how Ritual "may have looked" as a group in colour. Enjoy! Those were fun days. :-)
Hey Justin I do like the color transformation of my B&W pic.Really though I can't remember what the actual colors were but I think you got the right idea.I'm impressed with you picture manipulation abilities as I wish I could learn to do some of that.Just need time to learn how I guess.Oh yes, those were fun days to be into metal:)Take care my friend.
Mark
Awesome picture mark! Can I find their music anywhere? Would be fun to listen to. :)
Hi Erik
Unfortunately they only put out one album before they broke up as a group. They also did a demo for a second album which I never got a copy of:(At least I have their first release but its on vinyl!LOL. If I rooted around I may have a cassette as well. These were not the high tech days of today with internet and all.Maybe a web search might turn up something but I think it might be a long shot.If you really would like to hear them maybe I could ship a cassette copy of the album.

Woohoooo! HELLO FOOF! So much hairspray! XD It reminds me of my mum in the days of the perm. Thanks a bunch ^.^ I pics and love stuff like this!

Hey Mark are these the "Ritual" out of Livingston?!?! Also, this awesomely 80's photo prompted me to dig this embarrasing (and also awesome) photo of early Pantera:
Ahaha back when Darrell was known as Diamond Darrell. And contrary to popular belief, Cowboys From Hell was not their first album
I am trying to find any information on the Internet about this band, but it seems to be impossible... I have discovered, that there are several bands called "Ritual", not only one band. I'd like to get to know more about the metal-band "Ritual" on the picture (from the 80s). Does anyone happen to know their website? Thanks in advance.
Uwe
This should help:

Apparently they may be "active". Check the bottom of that link for their myspace and such.

Ritual @ Encyclopedia Metallium
Thank you very much, Phil. I will check out which band it is. Their MySpace-pictures don't remind me of the picture that Hairball posted. They look completely different on that picture, not only because of their hair.
Uwe
No problem Uwe,
I THINK this is the correct band. Ironically my friend at work who sits behind me (a fellow Longhair, waistelength) said his band from the 80's played with them. Plus the gentleman who posted this thread is from NJ (as are we) and said they released only 1 album. I actually work like 2 minutes from Livingston, small world!
-Phil
Phil what excellent research as that link is the Ritual I worked for.I can't believe its even on the net being its from so long ago and it wasn't like they got huge but they were popular on the club circuit. And they were from Livingston,NJ.At least Bill Farley was I remember for sure.Anyway just for the record I'll name the guys from left to right.Derek Lord,Ace Abram,Bill Farley(at center),Joe Ballarino, and finally Derek Thailer.During my time with them I kept Derek Lord's drum set from falling apart onstage during shows as he just beat on them big time.LOL.It was such a cool time being on their crew as they were a great bunch of guys.I always wondered what ever became of them. Thanks for digging up that info Phil.

No problem Mark! Always here to support "the metal". It's funny because my friend was in a melodic metal band out of Kearny called Wikkid Trixx (lol so00 80s). He recalls playing with Ritual and said they were pretty killer. I don't know if you would remember any shows with his band. By the way I work like 2 minutes from Livingston, small world hah.
-Phil
Hey Phil
Yea I kind of miss the 80s as there were so many local
bands and they actually were pretty good. The one you mentioned Wikkid Trixx does sound familiar as that certainly sounds like it came right out of the 80s.The first time I saw Ritual was on Staten Island at a club called Billy Os which I think was on Van Pelt Ave. near the Goethals Bridge.I really enjoyed that show and started to follow them around the club circuit. They started to remember me and eventually offered me a roadie job. We've been to so many clubs such as On Stage,The Showplace, and Studio One just to name a few.We did one road trip to Boston as an opener for a band called Rock Candy if I remember that name correctly.Oh well its fun to think about it and thanks for that link.Take care,
Mark
Yea Mark, good stuff came out of the 80's; fortunately I have friends who were around my age in that era (I'm 24) to inform me of such awesome bands. I'm sure you have a lot of great stories from Ritual. If you know of any good local shows let me know, I probably live relatively close to you.
-Phil
Hey Phil,
Don't know if you'll check back to this thread as its rapidly moving down the board.Anyway sounds like you are getting history of metal from a guy my age which is cool.Yea that was a great time to be around going to the clubs.Eventually towards the late 80s it was starting to turn into metal overload as too many bands were popping up and they were nothing special.Basically jumping on the bandwagon since metal was in.I guess it comes with the territory.Regardless working with Ritual was a lot of fun especially being behind the scenes. As for today the best rock club locally that I know of is The Starland Ballroom in Sayerville.Other than that the city has many as I usually go to BB Kings if something good is playing there. Anyway Phil its been nice doing the back and forth on this subject as you sound like a nice guy.As for you being nearby me I'm actually in the Woodbridge area so about 40 minutes from Livingston.Take care.
Mark
I cannot believe I'm talking about this band here! LOL! I saw these guys a few months ago over at the Stanley Cup in Linden, NJ. Now, I don't know these guys at all, nor have I anything against them. They were decent. Friday night and the crowd was ..... well, there was none, actually, except who came with the band. I felt bad for the guys.
Anyone remember Studio One? http://tinyurl.com/2f8j3g
