hi guys. i've been growing my hair for about 5 months now. i have really thick hair which is a pain but i'm determined to grow it out. the look i'm aiming for is the enclosed pic of david beckham from a few years ago. looking at the pic, how long do you reckon his hair is? also does anybody wear hairbands here? i suppose people tend to think of them as 'girlie' but i think they look cool :)
Tiger, Nothing "girlie" about this photo.
I think hair bands are cool!
peace, jonalbear
Hey!
Well, I am a girl and love bands. They are great for bad hair days =). I think they look really good when guys wear them. It takes a lot of confidence for men to wear them. I think that is a big reason that a lot of women like long haired men. It's a break from the norm. I say wear a band and I hope u like it!
Tc and gl!

I wear them around the house at times when doing things to keep my hair back; I have yet to venture out in public with one.
I've never worn one myself, but I know a few guys who have. Give it a try. You may get teased a little, but hey, you're a man. You can take a bit of teasing.

they're a necessity for work, for riding either bikes or motorcycles, and it prevents it from getting loaded with split ends from having to brush it out 10 times a day.
Once you get to below shoulder-blades length, you kind of have to capitulate and wear bands. Esp. if there's any wind about.
I am nearly 57 and began growing my hair about last June. I felt supported by this gentlemans website; www.choisser.com. Today I followed one of his links to this site and am glad to find the support.
It just so happens I also have thought about the hairband. I was looking at them yesterday in Wal-Mart. This last few days I've been using a bandanna; that has helped a lot. I probably wont stop thinking about it, so we'll just see. I am happy you brought it up and for this website. Your enclosed pic looks good.
Welcome; another addition to the "Old Farts" group here!
I'm only 54.

I Really like the Look, i did use to wear Hairbands like that a while ago, it really helped keep the hair out my eyes etc and was useful at work, but because i work with lots of dust i tend to wear a hat now.
But id Defiantly recomend they to anyone, i didnt bother me that they might be a bit girly, ifact most girls i know, thought it cool a Man would wear one
There are ways to reduce the girly-ness. First off, don't pick headbands that are pink or have flowers on them. A good idea is to try to get as close to your hair color as possible, to hide it. I've seen headbands with fabric coverings. If you or a friend are artsy-craftsy, maybe cover one with a bandana.
I wear headbands to get the hair out of my face a few times a week at home, and quite rarely in public. my hair is too short so right before the band its all flat and straight and after the band its a semi-poofy afro :P
In public it comes bad because I live in quite a windy country!
But yeah I love wearing the bands, they make a nice alternative to hats sometimes.
