Hi all
Shawn(Mr.Crow) brought something to my attention that has been intriguing me for quite some time now. Is it possible to have multiple hair types on one head?
I've noticed that the top portion/half of my hair is nothing like the bottom half. The top half is thin and slightly wavy yet the bottom half is thick and curly.
Anyone have a theory as to why my hair is this way? MPB?
From what I've seen of your hair, I'd venture a guess that the upper portions (nearer your scalp) are straighter due to the weight of the hair below, and that the lower portions (near the ends) are curlier, as there is less weight below to pull them straight. If you were to hold a Slinky by one end, up above your head, the portion closer to your hand would be straighter than the portion closer to the floor, for the same reason.

Gee, why didn't I think of this. Silly me! That slinky comparison was brilliant. I think you're right about the weight straightening it out at the top. When I was in the early awkward stage, My hair was poofy and curlier at the top as well. It fascinates me though, how hair can weigh itself down like that. Amazing.
Thanks for the input Val, much appreciated.

I was thinking the same thing, since I'm in the same boat (though not to quite the extreme). My hair is straighter on top now and still wavy to a little curly ont he bottom. I have a feeling if I ever decide to cut the layers out it will lay flatter on the bottom at least to some extent. I like the natural variation for now though.
