Sorry for posting all these posts. I'm new here on the board and i have a lot of stories to share. First of all My job, I've been working the same corperate job for about 2 years. I'm hired in and they say nothing about my hair as i was growing it out. I dn't even have to use a pony tail if I don't want to. I don't know if anyone heard of Respironics. But that's were i work here in Pittsburgh, PA. I'm so blessed with Great hair and so much more glad about my job and the whole long hair issue. There is about a dozen other long haired guys on my shift so I guess that helped also about the hair situation.
I'm never cutting my hair short again...

Hi Jøe,
Looks like we meet again as I just responded to your post just down a bit.Well I'm certainly happy for you that you are in a hair friendly work environment and its cool that you have many longhaired co workers. Not all of us are that fortunate but for me I'm lucky that I don't have a problem with longhair either on the job.Of course I work as a service tech in the HVAC field so just for convenience and safety my hair has to be restrained. That means tailing it and putting the tail up underneath a ball cap.Just today I was on a rooftop and it was so windy that if my hair was loose I wouldn't even be able to perform my job with it blowing all over the place. As you can tell by my avatar my hair is quite long. But at the end of the day I just take off the cover and let it free:)Oh the things I do to protect my hair!LOL.Anyway good hearing from you again.

I just had that mental picture of one's hair getting caught up in a blower assembly. That would be a bad day indeed.
Been there, done that. Whilst I haven't gotten it caught in the *big* squirrel-cage blowers, I have gotten it nicked by regular fans, and that is no fun. It's to the point where I just completely restrain my hair when I'm in the computer room at work because it only takes one slip-up to get into a world of hurt.
Good deal Joe!
Same here, I've been with my company for 2 years. When I started it was past my shoulders and I grew it to my lower back and no one ever looked at me weird or said anyhting. I also NEVER wore it back in a tail (I simply feel I don't look good with a ponytail). I cut it in short layers in early February above my chin and am happy to say I'm growing it back once again. It seriously has grown about 2 inches since I cut it, if not more which I'm happy about. People constantly comment on how fast it grows which is cool because I want it back where it was.
Anyway it's always good to hear that other longhairs are
accepted in office environements. Take care Joe!

I'm new here too, and to long hair as well. Well, relatively long hair that is. So far no problems at work, but unlike you there are no other long haired guys where I work. Management is very conservative, but also pretty reasonable. We'll see how things go as my hair gets longer. Also am in the Pittsburgh area too. Keep up the good work on your nice hair.
