I noticed in my home town at least that high schools have different attitudes to long hair. The state high schools (what the Americans call public schools) are fairly laid back about long hair provided it is kept tied back and not died any weird colour. The exclusive schools on the other hand seem real pedantic about having hair off the collar. Do any of you guys know of any different experiences to this?
I was recently looking through a few yearbooks of my old high school (which is a single sex boys school)at the library and I noticed that long hair was fashionable for the guys there from 1971 to 1980 after which shorter hair was more predominant but this was probably unique to that particular school.
I think you will find that the longer hair was more predominate during that time frame more so than just at that school. From the late 60's to about 1980 was the time that long hair was more a part of the culture. I can remember being in college in the early and mid 70's; long hair was the norm back then.
It seems that long hair is coming back in style again. I take it styles tend to come and go.
