I think I've regrown the 3/4 inch that I had trimmed in January. My hair is finally starting to feel long though I want it a lot longer. It's cool to observe it reaching new areas of my body. I'm not thrilled with my ends. I know I definitely have to keep up with the trims because I don't like thin or straggly ends. I wish mine were like Brandon's!!

I'm starting to use the rope braid more again...
a mediocre attempt..
last month's was better
wow, your hair looks very nice... keep growing it!
Thank you and I shall!
Hi Jason,
As always, you post the most fabulous updates, and your hair is a real inspiration for everyone on the hyperboard. With your thickness, you should have no trouble reaching your first goal of belt length, and your dream of classivc length should be easily achievable too. I only wish I had your thickness!
Take care,
David
Hi David,
Thanks for the support and encouragement. All of us appreciate your cheerful enthusiasm and support for all those growing their hair.
I'm curious to see how far I can grow while still maintain fairly thick ends. It's a fun journey no matter what!
Everytime you do an update I notice your hair thickening. I think it's looking very good!
Jason
Awesome!
I hope mine looks that nice one day!
Thanks!
You've got the hair for it, now it's just a matter of time. :)
The cool thing about growing it out is that it already is long if you you want to grow it longer. But yeah it's only a matter of time. Just be patien it will get there.
Cheers,
Jøe
That's great hair! And 50 months is a long time - you've become a very dedicated longhair.
Don't worry about the ends. They're quite thick. I think you'll have no difficulty growing your hair longer.
Ed
Thanks Ed. You are absolutely one of the greatest inspirations here!! The fact that your hair looks so great even beyond classic is amazing to behold. If I can make it to classic with halfway decent ends, I'd be very happy.
thats awesome man! i hope my hair comes out as good as urs in the long run! def an inspiration for me bro :)
Hey Mark,
Thanks for the kind words and I'm glad I can serve as a source of inspiration. It's a long journey but so worth it! My hair grows a bit slower than average. You may reach my length sooner than it took me.
Jason
Just one word 'BRAVISIMO'! Both for the hair and the torment you suffered.
D
I've never forgotten the support you have given me. I got derailed in that fateful December 2003 but this time I succeeded.
I'd love to see how yours is looking at some point.
Thank you...
Wow, just wow. Your hair is very nice! I hope to have a mane such as yours in the future.
-Hegg
Thanks Hegg!
You have marvelously thick hair and your hair is just going to look better and better the longer it gets.
Hi Jason,
Youe hair looks great mate and please don't fall into the trimmers trap (eh trimmers!) as it looks fine and you are one of the best examples of excellent hair here.
Cheers,
John.B
Hi John,
Thanks for the kind words and support.
But when I say 'trim' I'm only talking about between 1/2 and 3/4 inch every 6-8 months. I'm finding that as my hair lengthens, the ends just aren't as healthy as they used to be when it was shorter. I used to go a year between trims. Personally I'd rather sacrifice that small amount of length and have better ends.
Jason
Hi Jason,
As I'm sure Bruce would agree you don't need to trim so often my last trip was about 3 years ago.
Cheers,
John.B
That is certainly a landmark, Jason. Congratulations, as your hair looks wonderful. The ends don't look bad at all, especially for that length. Hope all is well for you otherwise. =)
-James
Hey James,
Thanks very much. The ends are okay but they're not as thick as they used to be when it was a few inches shorter. I'm currently weighing the benefits of length versus thickness. At least I feel like I've arrived as a longhair so if my journey onward is a little slower to maintain better thickness, I'm okay with that.
Looking forward to your next update!
Jason
Hey Jason!
Wow has it been over four years already????I have to hand it to you as your hair is exceptional and is thick right down to the very ends.I guess periodic trims are fine as long as its kept to a minimum.I really am impressed how well you've mastered braiding your hair since I've never had a clue how to do it properly.Someday I'd love to try it just to see how I look in braids.Anyway as usual a fantastic update and I'm glad your enjoying the journey:)Take care my friend.
Mark
Hey Mark,
I actually only know how to do the regular 3 strand English braid and the rope braid. Franny is the one that did all the others for me. I'm hoping to add a third braid to my repertoire soon though.
I think your thick and very long hair would look fantastic braided. It's really just a matter of practice. It took me a long time to learn but eventually your fingers will run on autopilot.
Thanks for your compliments about my hair. I appreciate your support.
Take care,
Jason
Hey Jason, super update as always. You're a constant source of inspiration. Thanks!
Cheers,
Max
Hey Max,
Thanks! I have to say you're making very good progress yourself. I've been enjoying watching your journey.
Take care,
Jason
Your hair is phenomenal, Jason. The texture, the colour, the shine and that darned-cool 'rope braid' just plain rocks!
Fret not about your ends. Even if trims are required to avoid it, your ends are anything but 'scraggly'.
Great job!
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
Thanks Shawn, I really appreciate your kind words. I think minor trims will still allow for plenty of growth while keeping my ends better. BTW, I'm really enjoying watching your journey and seeing how added weight is serving to lengthen out your curls.
I don't post here often, but I wanted to say thanks for the update. My hair type and color are very similar to yours and seeing your photos on this site about a year and a half ago inspired me to grow my own hair out. Keep it growing, it looks great.
-Robert E
Hi Robert E,
Your reply really made my day!! If I served in a small way to inspire another to be a longhair, that makes me feel good. Perhaps sometime we could see how yours is progressing....
Jason
Jason, Glorious!
peace, jonalbear
Hey jonalbear,
Thanks very much!
Wow, another fantastic update Jason. I cannot imagine what it is like to have hair similar in length to yours, but I look forward to the day I too can say I've reached 50 months. Take care.
Peace,
Ryan
Hey Ryan,
Your hair is already looking fantastic and I also look forward to seeing how your hair looks as it continues to lengthen. The added weight is going to make for some very cool ringlets on you.
Thanks!!
Jason
Jason,
I envy you! You have some amazingly thick hair! And it only gets better the longer it grows. Keep it growing!
Mike
Hey Mike,
Thank you!! I was blown away by how long your hair is as shown in your last update.
Jason
Your hair is looking fantastic, Jason. It will reach your waist in maybe a year from now. Great update, keep it growing and flowing, and may you have nothing but good hair days from this day forward.
Scott
Thanks Scott.
Wow, waistlength! That will feel pretty amazing when that comes. I really hope I can get there in a year. Your fabulously long hair is always an inspiration, of course.
Jason
You have some quality hair, that's for sure. I really like how the sun brings out all the red. Fifty months! I can remember when you started. Lots of water under the bridge for all of us since then. I hope your hair does get as long as you want it.
It's been quite a journey in more ways than one. Thanks for your support both now and all along.
Take care, Matt.
Jason
Lookin' good dude! I wish mine was that thick still.. Also wish I knew how to braid, haven't figured that one out yet! Good job ~ Keep it up ;-))
Tom
My Website
Thanks Tom! Your hair looks very thick to me! Braiding is tricky especially at first but with some practice it starts to get easier.
Hello Jason,
As usual it's a beautiful update. In 50 months, you've made a long long trip ;) The color is nice and I'm always surprised to see the difference of color, depending of the light.
And of course, you're an inspiration concerning the braids (See my today's subject about my self braids :))
Bye
Vivien
Hello Vivien,
Thanks for your comments both here and on my guestbook. It's been a very long journey but a fun one for sure.
I'm glad I could inspire you to try braiding. I'm very impressed by how yours came out!!
Jason
Your ends are fantastic. I could show you some ends that would
make you shutter.
Thank you. I guess I'm just comparing them to how they were when my hair was a few inches shorter.
Jason, yours is one of the updates I always look forward to viewing. Great progress, both in length and in thickness. You have no thinning at all at the ends, which speaks well for adding length.
Great photos.
George
Thanks for the kind words, George, both about my hair and the photos/updates.
Lookin great there Jason! Slowly creeping down to waist length:D
And i'm envious of your weather, it looks almost like summer, here we got probably 15 cm snow in just a day or two!
Hi Simon,
Thank you!! Yesterday was nice - about 50 degrees but with little wind.
Jason
Hi Jason
I would think as ones hair gets longer it becomes more difficult
to maintain that nice even edge. If you keep your hair at past the shoulder or mid back it can be done but if you want it really long
you may find it a necessary evil to have slightly scraggly ends.
Although I can't speak from experience as I haven't trimmed in almost 4 years now. it has barely reached the belt but only the longest strands at best I may have an inch or two yet to go but it will take a long time as I fear I'm that close to terminal.
Your hair being in great shape and thick your very lucky.
It looks brilliant.
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
You're right. I guess when I see updates like Brandon's with his super blunt ends it makes me wish for that. Of course, his hair is shorter and mine looked more like his when it was that length.
I really do want much longer hair so I'll have to strike a balance. Your incredible length is certainly an inspiration. I had no idea it was that long until you posted your update not too long ago.
Thanks very much for your support and encouragement.
Jason
Well, you many have isues with the ends, but I think your hair looks great, Jason. Especially the pictures that allow the red highlights to shine!
Mouse
Thanks Mouse. My hair color really does look different in various lights. I'm looking forward to your next update. :D
Wow, time sure is flying. Your hair looks great and I am glad to see that length of facial hair again. I think that suits you well.
Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Hey Walter,
Thanks for your comment... Time is flying indeed but at least growing one's hair allows one to see tangible results from the passage of time.
Jason
Wow what a great update, your hair looks in very good condition and I think the end also look think.
I also want to say I like your website with all the update pictures from month to month a lot. It inspired me to grow my hair and also make pictures while growing it out. I haven't made a site yet but I think I will in the future.
Hey Vincent,
Thanks for your kind words both about my update and my site. It's very gratifying for me to know that my site has inspired others to grow their hair long.
I'm looking forward to seeing your progression photos.
Jason
I just have to say that you have fantastic hair Jason.
You are a great inspiration to me and I'll try to follow you!!
Thank you,
SamsoKera
Thank you! You've got great hair yourself that will only look better as you carry on in the growth journey.
Your hair is beautiful, amazing color and thickness, totally an inspiration!
-Austin
Hey Austin,
Thanks for all the compliments! I'm flattered to be able to be a source of inspiration.
Jason
Jason,
Wow. Almost missed your update.. Your hair looks absolutely perfect.. truly an inspiration to the rest of us..
Hope all is well..
Tristan
Hi Tristan,
Things are going pretty well thanks. I hope the same for you.
Thanks about my hair. Passing that four year marker felt like quite a milestone. I'm just as enthusiastic as ever about the journey ahead.
I'm looking forward to your next update.
Jason
For some reason I can't see the pictures which is a real shame as the captions are really teasing me!!
~ Dave
That's weird they're not showing for you. I have the same photos on my site on this month's page:
