We've got some great heads of hair here and we get some great updates and then we get the second line.."oh now I'm going to trim"...why? If you 16 or 83 let it grow.
Cheers,

Hi John
Well you certainly won't get an argument out of me thats for sure.If it were up to me I'd demand everyone to stop all trims unless absolutely necessary. That would include damage from dying ones hair or some other dastardly torture one would do to their hair.Early on I do admit to keeping my hair around shoulder length but ever since the late 90s I decided I just wanted it ultra long.I'm so happy at my age that my hair is full and healthy:)

Sorry, but I'm against this point. so what if someone wants to trim a bit to get rid of damage or even things up? It just makes it look a tad better, and it's not like they're chopping it off into a mullet or some nonsense.
Well that is a very valid point and after all it's a free world and we all have differing opinions...eh trimmers!

I don't trim mine, except for an occasional split end, and I do those individually one hair at a time, trimming maybe 1/4" off.

I've trimmed mine twice in 10 years, but it was only because I didn't care for sitting on it.. I'd never trim just to "trim".. But after seeing some of ya'll on here I think I'm gonna let it go again ~

Don't think it is just you who have noticed. Here's mine (still damp from washing)taken last July.
John, I do not agree... If someone feels that he needs a trim then he should do it. Otherwise he starts being uncomfortable with his hair and become more and more uncomfortable and finally will cut his hair completely...
Trimming can make your hair look healthier, cleaner, nicer. So it is just a matter of priority, length vs. a certain look. I understand that most people choose their hairstyle for a certain look...

John,
Out of curiosity, how long is your hair? I used to never trim, but it seems every six months, the ends of my hair start to get bad looking and tangle very easy. I've been extra gentle to my hair so I am hoping maybe I won't need to trim by summer time. For some reason, I'd love to hit waist length now. Probably because of all the good feedback I received from my last update. Plus, it would piss of my sister. LOL

I hear ya John. It would seem a wave of bad hair has swept the world and everybody feels the need to trim as there is always that rogue split end lurking in the shadows.
As you said it's a free world more or less and if that suits them fine. However when some feel the need to post trim questions or issues I seldom reply as I honestly don't feel I have anything of value to contribute aside form my feeling that it's often not needed. So I just let others comment.
So in short yes I agree.

want long hair, then let it grow!
I only trimmed mine last week because it was growing waaayyy faster in the back than the front, so I just got about the width of two fingers taken off the back and back only. It looks way more even now, so I say if you feel you need a trim, trim it.
