Today, I got up and decided to go for a different look, just for the day. I wanted just a nice, soft wave to my hair, like some authentic California 'beach hair', so I tried the 'Scrunch' technique...
So I headed over to the bathroom, got my hair damp, got out some hair-gel, and sectioned my hair off...
I got the gel, and 'scrunched' sections of my hair off, one at a time, and then as I was done with the lower layer, I went to the upper layer, did the same thing, then got out the hair dryer (with diffuser), put that on LOW, and went over my hair for just a few secs, then cold shot to 'hold it'.......
I thought this would work. I thought it would be cool for a day, to get out of the ordinary look...some of my girl-friends with long hair have done it, and it looks kool....but for me...
after about a few minutes...the wave went flat, and all over the back of my head got all poofy...I thought this would really work, since I have at least some wave in my hair...I don't know....anyone got suggestions on doing this?
(PS: Im not going to even get close to a curling iron, I dont want it curly....it takes too long on my hair...and i dont wanna burn it on accident...)
Thanks all,
Peace,
-DJ (DDude)
What I've done for years and works well for me is to plan for this look first of all.. The night before I will get my hair damp with some leave in conditioner, twist it up in a bun and sleep it dry.. in the morning it's dry and has a great, all day lasting wave! You can brush it for a softer look or just shake it enough to give it body and leave the waves tighter.. I don't do it as much as I used to as I can't keep people OUT of my hair! :-O

I always put my hair in a bun after washing, it gives me great waves indeed!
