Well, whattaya know? Another month, and half a year will have passed since I got "Shrek-ed." My hair is right on schedule, growing just a bit more than 1/2" per month. It really is amazing how quickly time flies.
Thanks again to all the members of this community, for your continued encouragement and motivation.

Looking great man! Keep it growing, it'll be long in no time :-)
p.s Anyone ever tell you that you resemble the actor that portrayed "Leonidas" in the movie "300"? whoa!
Ditto! Good Call ~ LOL
Thanks, Chris... yeah, the "Leonidas Connection" was first brought to my attention by Kenneth, back when I posted my 1-month update. It's always flattering to hear, though! If only I resembled him from the neck down, as much as I do from the neck up... lol.

Hi Val
Interesting photo gallery going there however it shows off your progress quite well.Lookin' great so far as the best is yet to come.Keep up the great work.
Mark
Thanks, Mark. I think I'm going to change the layout of my progression photos after month six, as the earlier months are getting too tiny to see clearly. Either way, I'll keep y'all posted!

Great progress!! Keep it growin.
Thank you, Quester... will do!

Hi Val,
With each passing month, your hair keeps getting better, and be sure to hang in there and keep up the great growth! The journey is well worth it in the end.
Take care,
David
Thank you, David. I sure do agree that the longer my hair gets, the better I feel about it. The constant motivation I get from this community not only makes the journey easier, but a whole lot more fun than it was the first time around!

Well yeah Val, your hair is coming along great, but really...don't you think the "Shreked" look showed your bright smile off a bit better? HA!
Thanks for sharing !
WWT
Thanks, White Tail... it's true that the green complexion highlighted my pearly whites rather nicely, but I think my beard's dark enough to have roughly the same effect.

Grow Grow Grow!!!
I like that progress pics all in a row. Your hair does seem to grow at a pretty good rate. I think for a future halloween for your daughter you'll be Repunzel so better keep growing. LOL
Kevin
Heheh... maybe, but I think I'd have to masculinize it a bit. How's "Rapunzor the Mighty" sound?
Thanks, Kevin.

You've made a lot of progress since you were bald, it is already lookin a lot better and it only will be better from now on.
Thanks, Vincent... I'm looking forward to what lies ahead!
--Val
Looking good! I especailly like the photo progression.
Mouse
Thank you, Mouse! I find it really helpful to keep track of my hair growth from month to month, especially when I feel like nothing's happening. The camera doesn't lie!

Nice pictures Val. Was your hair long before you "Shreked" yourself. I wish I had the guts to start all over, it would solve sonme of the uneven problems I caused by trimming the front about 3 times. I'm so bad with dates , years and stuff. I don't even quite remember how long my hair has taken to grow to it's present length. Maybe 4 years??. I must try to find out
Happy growing Val
Todd B.
Thanks, Todd. My hair was "longish" about 13 years ago (see attached photo, the only decent picture I have of it), and I've kept it relatively short since cutting it way back then. From what I've read here and experienced myself, cutting it all off to "start over" is usually regretted. If your hair really is so badly damaged that cutting it is necessary, I advise cutting off as little as possible, to avoid as much of the awkward/ re-growing phase as you can. Most of the time, I think a little tender loving care will go a long way toward restoring damaged locks.

Looks great Val, I bet you can't wait to grow it back
Todd B.
hey bro thats great for only 5 months! its always a pleasure to see a update from you dude keep it up and cant wait for future updates!
Thanks for the kind words, Mark... I can't wait to post future updates!
--Val
You've got some very enviably thick hair there! It's going to look killer when it's long.
Thanks a lot, Jason... I know I'm on the right track when someone with hair like yours says their's anything enviable about mine! You've provided me with tons of inspiration, man, and I thank you for that as well.
--Val
Hey Val ...
Lookin good man.. Glad to see ya getting some growth up top there! It won't be long now, and you'll be right in the middle of the awkward phase.. Oh joy!
Keep up the great work man..
Tristan
Hey Tristan... thanks! Yeah, the first 5 months have passed pretty quickly, but those are the "easy" months, right? I actually don't mind most of the "awkward" phase, and am looking forward to getting to and through it. I think it's really more about attitude than appearance. Best regards to you and yours.
--Val
Hey Val, great update as always...you always look so happy and positive. Your hair seems to grow pretty quick, if you are more than 1/2 inch per month you are faster than average. Great! Keep it going buddy!
Cheers,
Max
Thanks for the encouraging words, Max. I do my best to stay happy and positive. As with most people, it's easier some days than others... what can ya do but keep on keepin' on, right? At the very least, I've always got a smile in reserve for the MLHH!
--Val
Looks great! You've come a long way since that Shrek look, i'm sure long hair will suit you!:D
Simon
Thanks, Simon. When I think about a time in my life when I truly looked (on the outside) the way I felt (on the inside), it was when I had long hair. The longer it grew, the more authentic and true to myself I felt. I am really looking forward to having long hair again, and have no doubt that it will suit me well. Thanks again, man!
--Val
What a nice thing for you to say... thanks very much, Walter!
--Val
Sure your hair is looking good, but I 'll be darned if I don't miss the ears.
Keep up the great job of not cutting.
Thanks for sharing your infectious, sincere smile and apparent joy of life.
Great!
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
Yeah, I miss those ears, too... maybe I'll reprise the role as a hirsute ogre someday. Thanks for the kind words, Shawn, and congratulations on your great progress, as well!
