I want to say a big thank you to all of you on this site. I am a woman who for the past year has been growing her hair out from a phase of having it disastrously short. When I began to grow it, I looked for sites on the web and found that they were all about what to do with long hair when you've already got it. Not much good to someone who had just had a hairdresser give her a haircut based on Demi Moore in Ghost (not a flattering look on me). THEN I FOUND YOU GUYS! :-)
It's been so wonderful to lurk and watch so many other people going through the same phases and problems that I was experiencing and to watch your hair grow through your fabulous update photos.
So a big thank you to you all for making the journey to shoulder-length hair such fun, and a particular thanks to those inspirational longhairs such as EdG, Trolleypup and Absalom! I hope that one day my hair will be as long as yours :-)
Finally, Urban Cowboy/Ken, you have made me laugh so much - and your hair is so cool!
Hi Rose,
First of all, I would like to welcome you to the hyperboard, and am delighted that you have introduced yourself. All of us here on the hyperboard appreciate the support that women can give us as we grow our hair long, and we have several highly valued women members already! We look forward to supporting you in your owm hair growing journey!
Welcome to the hyperboard,
David
Hi Dave,
Thanks very much for your response. I had a feeling you would be one of the first to reply - you are always so supportive of everybody!
Thank you Rose! Congratulations on shoulder-length and welcome to the board!
Ed
Thanks Ed, it's great to have plucked up the courage at last and posted - and to get such a warm response!
Welcome! Since I was starting with really short hair AND I hadn't had long hair since early childhood, I found it much easier to hang out with the guys. As you've already discovered, these guys are an inspiration!
Mouse
Hi Mouse, I've read your posts with interest over the past year and loved your photos. Your hair is such a vibrant colour!
Hi Rose,
WOW, thank you, --- and a big, hearty WELCOME to you!!!!
I agree w/ your wonderful comments about EdG, Trolleypup, and Absalom being great inspirations for all of us here at this site, --- and don't forget about Bill's amazing beard, too (although I doubt you'll atempt that look yourself - lol)!! And, yes, I also agree w/ you 100% that DavidN is a true gentleman; and I couldn't agree more w/ his comments about how important and helpful it is to have such supportive women be a part of MLHH.
As far as my humor goes, it's really simply an issue of MLHH allowing the occasional "benevolent case" of escapees from San Francisco homes for the longhaired mentally ill. The fact that I have a twisted mouth to match my sick mind, and that they allow me to post here at all, is proof of MLHH's kindness and compassion towards blondes and other mentally questionable characters. I hope that explains my presence here, --- just please don't tell ANYONE ELSE (lol)!!
Seriously, though, THANK YOU for your kind comments! I miss posting here more often (I used to be much more of a regular MLHH addict); but, it's still a joy every time I still get a chance to lurk in the shadows, --- expecially when I read such nice comments as yours!
- Ken
Hi Ken,
You are right, I think the beard is probably a far away dream (!!) for me, but I've seen some women who, after menopause, have made a pretty good stab at growing one! :D
It's a pity you can't post as much as you used to, but you know that only makes your occasional comments all the more pearl-like!
It's been so wonderful to lurk and watch so many other people going through the same phases and problems that I was experiencing and to watch your hair grow through your fabulous update photos.

Thanks for posting Rose I know just how you feel. I had so many questions and this board is the best there is for that. Allthough it is a site geared toward men, Woman are more than welcome. I find the women that come here to be very helpful and insightful (is that a word?) meaning to have a lot of insight......lol How long are you going to grow?
Have fun,
Todd B.
Hi Todd,
If I have any insight it's only the result of having been stupid enough to cut my long hair off 3 times in my life!! So I've been through the wringer of regret and growing-out 3 times too. The longest I've had it has been to the middle of my back, but this times I'd like to get to waist length and then see what happens! It would be really amazing to go longer than that!
Welcome Rose ;-)) Glad to see you here and hope all goes well in your quest for long hair! I've seen too many women traumatized by a hair salon and being empathetic as I am, I feel for ya'! Good luck and look forward to seeing update pictures of your progress!!
Regards,
Tom
Myspace
Tom, your hair looks great! Thanks for the empathy. I will never go near a hairdresser again! Luckily if I ever need a little trim (no intention of trimming any time soon) my husband is a dab hand with the scissors and does EXACTLY what I ask him to do (only win the matter of hair-cutting of course!!).
Unfortunately I am a bit of a technology-klutz, so it will probably take me another year to get to posting any photos!
Greetings Rose, glad you are enjoying and finding inspiration from this site...it's great isn't it? If it was not for the support here, I might not have made it as far as I have. Keep strong!!!
Take care,
Max
Hi Max,
Yes this site is wonderful. One of the best things about it is that it is relatively small and you get a feeling of belonging, and getting to know people - unlike The Long Hair Community site where I felt completely lost in the crowds of people.
You guys are also not shy when it comes to posting pictures and I find actually seeing other people's long hair in all it's different textures, colour and thicknesses really fascinating and inspirational.
We're glad you found us Rose and that we were able to offer you
something to help on your journey. It was very nice to hear from
you hope all continues to go well. Welcome to the board.
Kevin
Hi Kevin, thanks for your welcome. I hope this is only the start of a long journey!
Congratulations Rose as you just stepped into Hair Heaven:)Life is Good!Mark
Thanks Mark! Life is good, and even better when you've got some long(ish) hair to swish about!
Glad we are an inspiration to you and that you found us. Welcome and enjoy this wonderful Hyperboard. I don't believe there is anything quite like it to be found anywhere.
Best of luck to you in growing your hair out.
Hi Justin,
Yes this site is so warm and welcoming (as I've just found) and unique, especially in the way that you all support each other. I forgot to mention that your hair has been of particular interest to me as it looks rather similar to mine in colour and thickness!
Welcome to the board, it nice that we can serve as an inspiration.
Good luck in growing it even longer and I hope to see some update pictures in the future.
Thanks for your welcome. I hope that one day I will master the technology and produce some pics!
Hi Rose...
Welcome to mlhh! Glad you decided to post. I think alot of us would agree with you that we wouldn't have made it as far as we have without this site. It truly is a great place.
Again,...glad you posted.. Take care and hope to see you around.
Tristan
Thanks Tristan - I hope to keep visiting and posting in the future.
Growing and maintaining long hair is what we are all about, Rose. With patience, you should be able to grow it to waist length. Depending on genetics, classic length, knee length, or even ankle length could be in reach for you too.
Here is an image of my current length. It was taken in 2006, but my length is the same today.
Keep it growing.
Scott
Yes, this is one of the photos which inspires me! I shall be patient and see what my hair can achieve.
Thanks for your welcome.
