Never thought I'd say or do this, but... it's time I grow a beard, methinks.
I don't think I want a particularly long beard, just one that's "there".
So, uh, here's a start...

It's a picture of me and my girlfriend eating Dairy Queen ice cream in the car. Haha.
That was at about maybe 2 weeks of growth; now I'm at about a month, but my camera broke! Went to turn it on but it didn't turn on... nor would it work with fresh batteries. At least I stole the capacitor out of it...
ANYway... I have to keep it trimmed for my job, which is no big deal, as I'd like it relatively short. What would you say is the best way to trim it? Are there electric razors that can shave it all to a certain height, or are scissors the best way to go? Also, even if I trim it, will it continue to get "fuller" looking?
Also, that is not a barrette in my hair... I have these annoying short hairs that flip up!
HAHA I thought the same thing but I can see it's a shorter hair when I look closely. You have great hair by the way, it's extremely well-managed/shiny. Hopefully you'll have the Jesus-look goin soon hah.
Take care,
-Phil
Cool that your growing a beard!
When I ever want a beard I want the same as you want now, a short one. My father has a short beard an he uses a scissor to keep it at the desired lenght.
First, the beginnings of your beard look great. It looks like you've got good coverage.
Second, yes, there are fairly inexpensive shavers made specifically for trimming beards and mustaches, and they are a MUST. They make keeping the beard trimmed and neat very easy. Be sure to get one with variable lengths. I think you can get one for about 20.00 or less. It's been a while since I bought one, but mine stays plugged in by the sink in the bathroom, and I use it about twice a month.
Have fun,
Bob
GROW IT!
Every man should grow a beard at least once in a lifetime.
I recommend you a good electric trimmer, but wait at least four weeks before trimming or shaping it (especially the neckline), you have to see how it looks and then give it the aspect you want.
Happy growing!
P.S. have a look at the link:

Awesome, Peg! I'm not normally a facial hair person, but it should suit you quite well. Best of luck on your continued growth (and your hair's looking great, also)!
That DQ ice cream looks quite tasty, too...
-James
Peg, I think a full beard will suit you nicely.
Please keep us updated.
peace, jonalbear
Go for it Peg!!
I agree with Ale, leave it a month then decide, it takes that to fill out. Mine looked terrible for the first month then after six weeks I became happy with it.
Cheers Dave
Darn it! Now I'm hungry, and no ice cream in sight!
You'll find beard trimmers right next to the electric razors in stores. They are easy and quick to use and automatically give a uniform length, although the maximum length you can set is fairly short.
For a slightly longer beard you can use hairdressing scissors, which you should find right next to the combs, etc. If you only use scissors your beard will stay soft, but it is hard to get it very short and getting it even takes more time when you trim with scissors. Never use scissors that have been used to cut paper, etc., when you are trimming your hair or your beard, they will be too blunt.
Hi Peg,
Always good to hear from you my friend and hope all is well, well it must be if you are both tucking in Dairy Queen ice cream. It's not fair I wish we had those ever in the UK!!! I know their ice cream is good.
I think the beard looks great and suits you. I've tried a beard myself and far too itchy and a goatee is fine (sorry Jonalbear!) and I've have that for 10 years. I invested in a beard trimmer and it keeps my wild curly hairs in my goatee under control and good investment.
Keep it growing and hear from you soon mate.
Cheers,
John.B
Hi Peg, a short trimmed beard will go very well with your hair. 1/2 to 1" would look great. An electric beard trimmer can help to maintain that length.
