A fate worse than death
to the longhair can be-
what's seen in this pic,
that just happened to me!
For a dreaded knot
was discovered this morn-
and despite all best efforts,
ended up torn!
Oh me, oh my
tis WAS the first-
since having long hair,
my bubble hath burst!
Try as I did
for half an hour to save-
just couldn't be done,
a paper plate now its grave!
So dear ones out there
in "Long Hair Land"-
the funerals tomorrow,
promptly at two!
Gifts may be sent
to the "Justin Fund"-
please give till it hurts,
for the battles now done!
LOL
ps: The larger sums I like the best. (hint) :-)
Lots of money I have (k)not...
but my highest condolences on the passing of the hair...

Oh Justin I really know the feeling. One time I got a portion of my hair stuck in one of those rounded brushes. It was stuck so bad I had to rip it out. With a know like yours maybe you could have tried a little olive oil on your fingers. Rub it in and gently try to pull apart the knot
Good luck with your chatity benefit
Todd B.
So it was a dreadnought?
You must be into guitars and/or ships! ;)

Alas poor hair we knew it well! You stop you using the phillishave!
Cheers,

Alas poor hair, wed thought you fair;
And although were fond, were glad your gone
For knotted, tangled and ripped
.leads to being clipped !!
A hare has been sacrificed to the local coyote pack in lieu of dollars, HA!
Why not give my shed hairs a decent burial. Here is my hair casket. I made this today out of acrylic plastic. Plastic fabrication is a hobby of mine. It is a big step above that ugly old paper shoe box.
That knot appears to be undoable. I have undone worse than that. You have to slip knots apart one hair at a time. Go for the loosest hairs first. A sewing pin can force apart stubborn hairs if the knot is real tight. If I was there to help I would have probably been able to get it apart with no loss of hairs.

I get knots like this all the time, but I can usually get them untangled using a few heavy gauge sewing needles to tease the hairs apart one by one. If all else fails, don't just cut the knot loose. If you're going to have to cut anyway, try cutting a small part of the way into the knot with good quality scissors. Then try again with the sewing needles and you will usually find that enough hairs can be pulled free from the knot to get the rest of it untangled. Of course, some of the hairs will be the ones you cut with the scissors, and they will still end up on that paper plate:(
Greetings Justin, you took a tragedy and turned it into something fun and poetic...in the end. Congrats on your superb attitude and grace in a very dread(knot)ed situation.
Cheers,
Max
PS I've had a few tangle situations with just a few hairs and after minutes of trying to untangle I just lose my patience and rip right through them. My patience level is very poor lately...hope that changes.
Hi Justin!
All I can say is ouch!LOL.Man I hate when I get those things as after awhile you just have to throw in the towel and cut the bugger out:( I find that wearing fleece jackets are bad for longhair. These little fuzz balls seem to love to get wrapped up in strands of hair causing what you just pictured.I'll be glad when summer gets here and I don't need jackets anymore.Take care my friend and hope that doesn't happen again.

Justin, that's a beautiful poem! I'm sorry about your knot. I regret I cannot attend the services nor send funds as I am more broke than you can imagine.

Last year I had not one, but several of those. A couple were frighteningly larger than that. I think they were part of the what I call "the klump" that forms when you tail your hair and the wind messes it up. I think I tried to comb it out one too many times, and the participating hairs got overstressed and just came out. Fortunately, the klump is in back so losing it doesn't make any noticeable impact on the appearance, and may actually be beneficial since those hairs are "known tanglers".
Your hair is so thick, Steve, you likely won't notice any loss from tangles. Try multiple ties at 4 inch intervals for windy conditions. You will need maybe 7 or so. This has had stellar results for me. (I would never have gotten even half as much length without multiple ties.) This should help you eliminate "the klump". Even though your loss from tangling is low, tangles can still be very irritating and time consuming.

Hi Justin,
All I have to say is YIKES, and more YIKES! That does not look like much fun at all! Also, I see that Ken must have been giving you some poetry lessons, and gifts to the "Justin Fund" are on their way!
Take care,
David
I hate it when that happens. Save it and put it outside for the birds to pick up for nest lining.
This would always happen and worst of all when I was in a hurry for some reason making it very agrovating. In my case I found that I can avoid knots by not letting them form in the first place. I discovered my problem was that I was washing my hair incorrectly by piling it up on top of my head in a gooey mass and kneading it with the balls of my palms. hairs that came free during this would continue to mix in the mess and upon rinsing, would snag up in balls and form knots out towards the ends.
I started washing by bending over and letting my hair fall down straight, working my fingers and shampoo or conditioner out to the ends to move the loose hairs down and out before rinsing. Then I'd rinse the same way keeping my hair straight down and loose. No more knots.
This is probably obvious to some of you but it wasn't to me; I had to learn about this method by reading it somewhere on the internet a month ago or so.
What a great style to post about your knot like this.
Luckily this doesn't happen often, this being the first time!
