Hey guys!
The last few months seem to have flown by and here it is, April already and 21 months of growth on my head. The changes have become far less apparent each month, but Im really happy with how my mane is turning out. I do search and destroy to hunt out the split ends regularly, but Im seriously thinking of doing a self-trim (just a quarter inch) around the two-year mark this summer since most of the tangles are in the ends. Nothing set in stone, though.
These pictures show it a little scruffy, but I dont mind. It takes all sorts of styles over the week.
The back is erratic. Sometimes it looks more like a U, sometimes more like a V, and sometimes one side looks longer because the hair on the other side has flipped up into stronger waves. Never a dull moment!
The ever-useful ponytail. I like it loose, but for practicalitys sake I have it in a tail most of the time, especially at work. Halftails are nice too, but I find the ends get rather tangled if I have to go outdoors in the wind.
I almost didnt include this picture since the braid is so crooked, but what the heck. Sometimes its straight, but obviously I still need a bit more practice.
On an amusing note, my sister recently asked me how long I was going to grow it. I responded, Until I think its too long, and then Ill cut it back to a length I liked. She then asked if I was planning to grow it down to my butt. I said, Nah, thats probably too long for me to want to bother with. She rolled her eyes and said, Good, otherwise wed have to have an intervention. I laughed at her. She is so into being trendy and current. Now part of me wants to grow it that long just to annoy her. :-)
As always, thanks for the support, guys, and keep it growing!
Mouse
hey Mouse looks great! def gotten alot longer since your last update, looking fab! keep it up and happy growing!
Thanks, Mark! I hope your wavy/curly hair keeps up it's great progress too.
Mouse
What FANTASTIC color and fullness!!!
Oh, man, this just isn't fair... My hair is turning more and more white with each passing day, --- and then I see your update pics, with such a gorgeous shade of red to your hair!
Anyway, I no longer have much time to keep up with many updates here; but, tonight I just so happen to be looking at MLHH before going to bed, and couldn't help but admire your hair out loud!!!
- Ken
Thanks so much, Ken! You really bring a sense of humor to the board, but never fret over your own mane. It looks fantastic and the white hair gives it a distinguished appearance. :-)
Mouse
Hey Mouse! Woohoo! What a tremendous update! Your hair is looking super, what color and thickness! like the way it is looking at the 21 month mark. Yeah, I deal with longhair naysayers similarly to how you dealt with your sisters comment. Bravo to you and keep it growing and flowing.
Yippee for you Mouse!
Max
Thanks, Max! Keep those naysayers at bay!
Mouse
Mouse, your hair looks wonderful!
I too have to wear mine in a ponytail most of the time to stop it from tangling - especially when it's windy.
I think that doing braids gets easier when the hair is a bit longer - mine were most succesful when my hair was mid-back length. I've still got another 6-7 inches to go to get back to that place!
Sisters, and other relations, can be a bit irritating :-).They all seem to think they know best! When I was recently asked how long I was going to grow my hair I replied, "to infinity and beyond!" It didn't go down too well!!
Thanks Rose! I might have to try that response next time, just for the reaction. :-) Thanks for the braid tip too. I'll look forward to mid-back lenght even more now.
Mouse
Damn Mouse, now it´s geting long for real! Great hair, it suits you!
Thanks, Erik! I never would've thought it would suit me, but now I can't see going back to short hair.
Mouse
Hi Mouse,
As always, it is a genuine pleasure to get an update from you! You have the most beautiful thick and wavy hair, and that red colour is divine, and it is filled with shine. I hope you ignore the comments of your sister, and plan to grow it to the length YOU desire, and the longer, the better!
Take care,
David
Thanks, David! No worries about my sister's comments. I've been ignoring her for, let's see, 25 years at this point. I have plenty of practice. ;-)
When are you going to grace the board with another update?
Mouse
Hi Mouse,
Thank you for asking about my update! I admit to being a bit tardy with my latest one, with all that has been happening in my life lately, but I will do my best to get one posted sometime in the next week, if the hair co-operates!
Take care,
David
I look forward to it!
I can't believe you're already at 21 months! But now that I think about it, it does seem about right... At any rate, you have come a long way, Mouse. Your hair is looking beautiful. Keep working on the braiding, and you'll have it down before you know it. Hope all is well up in Minnesota. =)
-James
Thanks, James! Minnesota's been a pain this year. I'm all for snow, but a blizzard in April is a little much at this point. I'm ready for 60 degrees. Now watch me complain in July when it's 90...
Mouse
Superb update, Mouse! Lookin' good.
Joshua
Thanks, Joshua!
Nice and healthy looking, Mouse !
You are making great progress.
Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Thanks, Walter! I hope spring is treating you well.
Mouse
Hi Mouse what a fantastic update! At just under two years your hair looks awesome and if it were me I'd go for at minimum mid back.I know what you mean about longer hair needing more attention but I think its worth it.Of course I too have it tailed most of the time and forget having it loose in the wind!LOL.I'd spend an hour or so trying to get the tangles out.Anyway looks great to me and don't fall into that trendy trap thing.Be your own person.Take care and have a great weekend.
Mark
Thanks Mark! No worries on the trendy thing. The last thing I've ever been accused of is being trendy. ;-)
How's Opal?
Mouse
Hi Mouse
Well thats good that your going to resist following the current trends especially when it comes to hair.I go to the gym and some of the women there have the worst looking haircuts. What were they thinking!LOL.Oh yes and Opal is doing great if I can just keep her from sitting on my laptop when its open.Take care
Mark
You have beautiful hair, Mouse! It's very thick and I think you'll have no difficulty growing it longer.
PS. Ignore your sister. Long hair is timeless rather than trendy. Timeless is much better!
Ed
Thanks, Ed! I'll keep ignorming my sister...I have lots of practice. :-)
Mouse, You have beautiful hair. Wonderful color and texture. Looks nice falling over the shoulders.
peace, jonalbear
Thanks, Jonalbear! I really like the feel of it on my shoulders, and I'm glad it's finally there.
Mouse
Hey Mouse,
I've been looking forward to your update. All I can say is that your hair gets more and more impressive as it lengthens. It's truly beautiful between its thickness, color and texture. Those waves are going to give you incredible volume to some very long lengths should you choose to grow that far.
Thanks for the update and for being such a supportive member of our community.
Jason
Thanks, Jason! I only hope that I can sport some of the outstanding braids you've done over the years.
Mouse
It looks great Mouse, keep it up :)
And at least you can do a braid, I don't know how to do one to save my life! Then again, my hair's nowhere near long enough for a braid yet.
Keep going!
Shawn
Thanks, Shawn! Try this website for braiding information. I found it to be rather helpful, though obviously I need just a tiny bit more practice. ;-)
How to Braid Hair
Nice update Mouse! You're really starting to get some length and it sure looks healthy too:D
I'm only at 13 months right now, but time passes by quickly, so it definitely won't be long before i'm back to the length i had before i cut=))
Take care!
Simon
Thanks, Simon! So when are you going to do an update? Your hair must be getting quite a bit longer than your avatar photo now.
Mouse
Your hair is gorgeous, Mouse. Growing it out can be frustrating at times, with all the waves growing every which way. With added length, it will tame down. I looked at your ponytail girth. Your hair is thicker than average. Keep growing it for sure.
Scott
Thanks, Scott! The difference between now and a year ago is already fantastic. Another year or two should help it behave.
Mouse
Nice update Mouse! Your hair has made alot of progress since your last update. Your hair looks beautiful. Shiny, luxurious, and full. Keep it growing Mouse and thanks for sharing this great update with us.
Thanks, Chris! I hope all is well for you in the muggy state of Florida. Ugg...
Mouse
A wonderful update Mouse, your hair is healthy and long! Hey, I was once that color before the grey set in. I'm jealous! Keep on growin', don't pay attention to your sister, be true to yourself.
Bruce
Thank you, Bruce! I'll be sure to enjoy my color before the inevitable rise of grey hairs...but then, that'll be just another adventure.
Mouse
Mouse,
You have a great head of hair there! Keep it growing long, and do go for butt length. :-)
Mike
Thanks, Mike! I don't think I'd want to have hair long enough to sit on, but the idea of tormenting my sister has it's merits...
Mouse
Hi Mouse,
Spectacular progress and gorgeous colour. Thanks for your update
Cheers!
SamsoKera
Thanks! Progress is less noticable as the months go by, but it's still growing. :-)
Mouse
Your hair is so shiny and pretty -- and you are too. I'm glad you've hung around here with us guys for the journey. I really like the reddish color of your hair too. I think you should grow it on down to your rear too, "just to annoy her!" Long hair may not be trendy, but it never really goes out of style. It's the "default setting" for a human.
MB
"Default setting," LOL! I'll have to try that one on my sister!
Thanks, Matt, and when will we ever see an update from you?
Mouse
Mouse, you have a gorgeous color and with the waves it seems all your styles look fantastic, especially with your shine and every hair in place! The ends come together well in a braid and in a ponytail or loose there is so much visual interest, your hair doesn't just hang there. Have fun tormenting your sister!
Elizabeth
Oh, it's not always in place, but thank you for the compliment. I love the waves and for the life of me I can't understand why women always want to change their hair. I mean, if you have wavy/curly hair you're supposed to straighten it, and if you have straight hair you have to curl it. And heaven forbid you be happy with your natural color! :-0
Anyway, enough of the mini-rant. Thakns for the kind words, Elizabeth!
Mouse
Hey Mouse !
Your hair is becoming fantastic ! The color and the shine are beautiful.
Curious that even women today think that long is too long !
Bye
Vivien
Thanks, Vivien! There are actually a lot of women that think hair past the shoulders is only for "little girls" and 20-somethings. As you get older, you're supposed to go shorter and shorter...not happening!
Mouse
Wow what a great update, I've been following your progress while I was lurking and you've come a long way. It looks very well taken care of and shiny. The waves in ends are great gives your hair a lot of life.
Thanks, Vincent! Glad you've emerged from lurking. :-)
Mouse
Hi Mouse!
I can't believe I almost missed your update!! It was buried pretty far down on the posts, so I hope you get this message..
Your hair is looking great and the color is incredible. I'm glad your having such wonderful success with it..
I finally get to see my family this summer for the first time in years ... (the plot gets thicker). I can't wait.
Take care Mouse...
Talk to you soon...
Tristan
Thanks, Tristan! I can't wait to hear how things go when you see your family. That's gonna be a fun post to read. :-)
Mouse
I am so sorry I missed this when it first got posted!
Your hair is beautiful Mouse (as are you) and the colour, the shine, the neatness of it is very inspiring. I think you h air is fantastic and you look totally natural wearing it. Hard to believe that just a few seasons ago your hair was as long as toothbrush bristles!
Well, as frogs say,
"Time's fun when your having flies!"
And the time has surely gone by.
Congrats!

HAHAHAHAHA! I am SO going to use that saying. :-)
Thanks, Shawn, for the kind comments. I'm really looking forward to your next update, though I assume school is keeping you quite busy at the moment.
Mouse
Living keeps me busy - I put my hands into so many pots!! School is certainly a big pot, though.
