Hi everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself and say what a unique niche of people we have gathered here...I love it! I'm 24 now, and have always been fascinated by having long hair. However my problem has always been--and I'm sure most of you can identify--is that after I get a considerable amount of growth, I just don't stick it out. I end up convincing myself that it's not what I want.
However, I think having some social support here on the boards might be just what I need to push through to the end. I honestly can't explain my motivation for long hair; I'm not trying to rebel, join a band, take up surfing, or partake in any other activity where long hair is the norm. It just FEELS like something I want.
Here is me a month ago from my last trim (back and sides only), since I was starting to look a little like...oh I don't know, a bum (trust me, it helped). But I vow from here on out...no more snippy snippy. In November, my bangs will be 1-year old.
My goal is around the chin/mid-neck length. I really have no desire to go insanely long with my hair (no offense to anyone else, it's just not for me). Thanks again and I look forward to updating you on my progress.
E
Welcome to the board, Eric! You'll find all the support you'll ever need, right here on this board. Just let your hair grow, don't trim it, and before you know it, you'll be at your desired length. Stay well and keep us updated. =)

Thanks man! I was checking out your website, very cool! I'd say my goal is about where your hair is around June 2007, I think that's the perfect length for me. So hopefully by the end of this year, that's where I'll be.

Hi eric,
Welcome to the hyperboard, you've come to the right place to get the motivation you need to grow your hair.
Don't think about your hair to my and just let it grow, you've tried many times so it's something you really want!
Hi Eric, you can fine good info and make friends here to help you on your hair growin journey.
Frank
First welcome to the board, I have it to be quite a help and keeps me motivated even on those hard to deal with my hair days.
I really don't mean to speak for the people on this board but from what I have read and even interpreted from reading most posts on a daily basis is, I think that most people grow their hair out because it's just what feels right or something they always wanted to do. I know for me it was just something I always wanted to try, and when people ask me why I am growing it out or what my motivation is. My answer is I am doing it because I want to and I think that I would look great in longer hair.
Best of luck on your hair goal and take care,
-J
Thanks for the kind words.

I think we all have some idea what you've been going through; when I first tried to grow my hair out (around 13ish) my parents would only allow it to go for two months or so, and then make me cut an inch off... so I was getting nowhere fast; then of course there are the expectations of a society that wants us all to be servile and follow the leader, all with short hair of course. But you've definitely come to the right place, esp if it "feels" right... which is undoubtedly what keeps you trying again.
Just stick it out, and remember we're all here to help!
-Austin
Thanks man, much appreciated.

Hi Eric H, Perseverance is what you need. Once you get through the awkward stage it will be much easier. Your hair will look great in a couple of years!
peace, jonalbear
Hey Eric..
Welcome to mlhh! This is the perfect spot for support... alot of us wouldn't have made it so far without this board.
And don't worry, you don't have to be a rebel, surfer, skateboarder, or even a hippie to be here (unless you want to that is) ... just grow it long man and enjoy the ride.
Take care and hope to see ya around..
Tristan
Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it. Thanks and take care.
