Hey all,
I had a blast at my sister's wedding that took place over the weekend. I was so worried that my hair would have been brought up as an issue as my other sister (the one not getting married) gave me a lot of crap about it last Thanksgiving.
No one seemed to even mind that is was long and everyone was happy to see me again. One of my cousins that I have not seen in over ten years told me she loved my hair, and that she loved the beard too.
Pictures were taken, and I found one that was taken of me from the back. I will have to post it when I download it off my camera as I was waring my hair braided at the time.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for sharing this good news story with all of us on the hyperboard! It is things like this that make it all worthwhile, and we are looking forward to your photos!
Take care,
David
Mike, Yes, definitely looking forward to seeing your pictures.
Got some great feedback about my hair at my brother's wedding last June. Especially from my new sister-in-law!
A few dropped jaws also from folks I hadn't seen in many years!
peace, jonalbear
Good stuff!
But don't worry, they will talk about it behind your back. LOL
I sure wish I could braid my hair but oh well. It's one of those things I'll never be able to do. But atleast I know how to tie a tie, where most of my guy friends don't know how. LOL
People who haven't seen you in a long time just see some beautiful long hair. People who see you a lot see the akward stage and have something to comment on. I think that is the difference in reactions you get.
Nice that the worries you had were not happening.
That's wonderful to get compliments from family and friends like that, especially when they are completely unexpected!! I know the feeling, been there and done that too.. My mom detests long hair on men but she does nothing but compliment mine now.. Funny how time and length changes things! Glad you had a great experience ;-))

Hi Mike,
Glad to hear you had fun at the wedding and that nobody ragged on your hair.I guess over time people who do criticize your hair finally realize its a loosing battle and just drop it.Whats it to them anyway as its your hair and you should be free to wear it as you please. Also its cool that your cousin actually gave you positive feedback so thats got to be encouraging.Anyway I'd love to see your pics when they are available as I'm sure they are great.Take care my friend as I'm patiently waiting..........:)

That's excellent news, Mike, --- and that's what weddings should be all about: having fun, and everybody enjoying seeing family members re-uniting again, sharing in the wedding couple's joy that day!!
The fact that your cousin gave you such positive feedback at the wedding only proves how small-minded your other sister was when she made that negative statement from the past. In my experience, usually the people who are quickest to make negative comments about long hair on men are more concerned about THEIR OWN self-image of being seen and/or associated with the longhair (because of believing in the stereotypes about longhairs, perhaps?... I don't know)... By making a negative comment about our long hair, those kind of people are hoping to shame us into cutting (and therefore, "fitting in", --- which the critic is hoping will happen in time for the event)... What a waste!
Anyway, I'm so glad it all turned out so good, --- that's exactly the way a happy day like a wedding SHOULD be!!!
