Yet again another keyboard pic - this is my new acquisition - Yamaha's most bad-ass synth on the planet right now!
Enjoy

I Love Yamaha keyboards. They were made for long hair! LOL
You need to do the Yanni pose.
You know, get a fan to blow at you on high speed and strike an emotional look. LMAO
Your hair looks nice indeed.
Lol that's a great idea - I might just try it.
I have several other Yamaha keyboards including the original 1983 DX7 but I have Korgs and Rolands too - I love them all.
Do you play keys too then? And if you do, what keyboards do you use?
Glad you liked the pic and my hair
Cheers!

I do have a Yamaha keyboard although in recent years, it just takes up space in my closet :(.
My thing is, I could never follow the beats and just played the notes according to how I liked them. LOL
I should probably start practicing again. Although I will say this, playing keyboards is by far easier than playing the guitar.
Yeah, I know, a guitar is simpler to learn, but dude, the fingers hurt less! LOL
Btw, it's a Yamaha PSR-220
Hi ATP
Shame about the keyboard - it's probably dying to be played a loved again but then I have about 13 synths in a storeroom because I haven't got room to set them all up at the same time lol!
I dabbled with the bass but yeah, fingers hurt way too much and I can play far better sounding stuff on the synth. A normal guitar only allows a maximum of 6 notes at the same time whereas with keyboards I am dealing with thousands of simultaneous notes. Also all my favourite type of chord are impossible to play on the guitar. All a bit too limiting really.
Cheers!

Being able to play keyboard is really awesome, I like bands with keyboard a lot it really ads something to the sound.
You've also got some nice hair!
Hehe lol thanks for your comments. Yeah I love keyboards, just such a shame they're a bit out of fashion right now with all these people clanging away on the guitar. They're even getting difficult to buy now. I had to go mail order through a distributor for this one.
Cheers,
RM
Hi RainMaker,
What a great photo! Your hair looks in excellent condition, and I only wish I could hear you play this instrument!
Keep it growing,
David
I'll let you know when I've made my video files (see my reply to John)
Cheers,
RM
Hi RM,
I hope all is well up in the West Midlands and thanks for sharing an update shot. They is looking in very good condition and lovely natural colour.
I have to say that is one amazing keyboard and it looks very expensive and I'm sure to everything apart from making the tea. How is the music project coming along as it would be great to hear some of of your work.
Keep and growing and playing.
Cheers,
John.B
Hi John
Thanks for your comments. Yeah it is a pretty amazing synth and got it for a good price too as I went through a main distribution warehouse rather than through a retailer. I'm looking to make some short videos to post at MySpace but can't seem to get anyone to come and do any filming so I will have to splice together static shots and sync up the movement... which takes forever lol!
Cheers

Great looking hair you have there! That looks like a neat piece of musical hardware you have there. :-)
Cool, you play jazz-fusion? I am a keyboardplayer myself, so obviously i'm interested.

Love to play funky stuff - think Jamiroquai type music. Forgive me I'm not too good with genres as I only deal with two - good or bad there are just too many. I exclusively compose music for my own enjoyment and draw on lots of different types of music and melt it all down to generate something new from all these styles.
I also have perfect pitch so I can play anything just by listening to it although I did get my grade 8 on the church organ 11 years ago so I can read music too!
RM
I was too dumbfounded drooling over your Yamaha to notice hair ! HA!
My Yamaha is a bit more traditional than yours.....and likely older than you ! HA!
I love piano. This new synth I have is the next best thing - it has the best piano samples on any synth at the moment. What piano do you have?
I have played Bosendorfers, Steinways and Yamahas. I think my favourite is probably the Steinway Model D but the Bosendorfer Imperial 290 is pretty impressive with those extra bass notes.
Cheers,
RM
What piano do you have?
I have a passionate love (obsession?) with the piano and have been playing, tuning and repairing since I was quite young (my Dad had a recording studio). So for a long time I have had a side business as a piano technician.....so have access to a whole spectrum of instruments. The Yamaha Grand is in my living room. I am also very fond of Petrofs with their beautiful bell-like tones......of course, the Imperial base will rattle your bones ! HA!
Someday I will pick up one of the better electronic keyboards to experiment....
Thanks for asking
Walter
Wow you're a fabled piano technician? I've read loads about the amazing work these people do to alter the voicing, action and pretty much anything else that's adjustable inside the piano. I've done a lot of reading about the instrument as the physics of the sound interests me and has been important in helping me to synthesize piano sounds via electronic means.
I'd love a piano in my living room but the property just isn't big enough :( Oh well, we all have to have dreams
Glad you love piano though - too many people seem to want to play guitar rather than beautiful piano and keyboard sounds these days...
RM
Hi RainMaker cool set of keys you've got there and to top it off awesome hair as well:)Its good to see you posting again.I wish that I had the natural talent to play an instrument as my last attempt was the guitar.I took lessons for some years but never got really that good at it.Now my poor guitar just sits in its case waiting for someone to do some shredding on it.Anyway thanks for posting that cool pic of you and the keys. Take care my friend.

High!
Cool-looking synth... and Yamaha has built great electronic instruments since the days of the fabulous Electone GX-1 of 1975! I myself own a SY-55 synthesizer and an Electone C-55N organ... and as I'm very much into the classical Hammond sound, I would like to ask you whether your synth also includes a digital tonewheel drawbar section similar to those of the Korg, Roland or Clavia Hammond clones!
See you in Khyberspace!

Yadgar's music: http://home.arcor.de/yadgar/music - enjoy!
Hi there
The Yamaha SY55 - that was my first ever encounter with a real 'synth' when I was at school. I remember groping around the front panel for five minutes only to discover that the power switch was hiding round the back. Ever since then a synth wasn't a synth if the power switch wasn't on the back!
Of the S90ES there isn't actually a drawbar section as such, however there are 4 realtime sliders on the panel that can be assigned to multiple functions (including volume) so I imagine a hammond type setup could be created although you'd only have the first 4 harmonics rather than the 9 found on the hammond. You could probably set this up as a synth program and have two harmonics per slider. I primarily bought this keyboard as I have wanted a decent piano sound for as long as I can remember. While the S90ES still isn't quite the real thing, it's the closest you are going to get on the current market.
Cheers,
RM
