Surely, many of you on here have hacked off what were once wonderful locks of hair from your head ... despite the years taken to allow my natural follicles to flourish, I mistook myself for someone who had "outgrown a phase" or some other sort of transitional nonsense.
While it is not necessarily "short," I am very disappointed in myself for my decision. Truth be told, I think the only way for me to really appreciate my longer hair was for me to not have it. Notorious for stubborn initiative stemming from my own ideas, I sometimes just have to be wrong.
In posting this, I'm hoping for some support from others who have done similarly, but mostly, this serves as a check-point warning: do NOT cut unless you're ready, gentlemen!

Sorry to hear you made a decision you regret. Maybe this post will save someone some grief.
Thanks guys, figured it made sense to share me woes in light of alleviating maybe a few people from the same.
I definitely think it'll serve to be a stronger commitment now, well-put. Hair, forever! (a toast)
Howdy Brendo613,
Rest assured, you are not alone in having made this unfortunate mistake, --- I did the same thing on the first day of Summer in Y2K (only the result was a much shorter hairstyle)!
As the stylist said to me over 7 years ago, "Your hair is growing, even as we speak!" It's a nice thing to know that Mother Nature is on our side...
The good news is that things like this can sometimes bring about a more solid sense of commitment. I know that this is true for myself, at least: I became a "longhair for life" after that Y2K disaster, and this June I'll be celebrating 8 full years of growth... YIPEE!!!!
Grieving over hair loss is an unusual thing. Few people in society seem to understand how devastating it can feel, --- and in the year 2000, I didn't know about this place, so I felt as if I had no one to talk to about how seriously I regretted cutting my waist-length mane back then. I'm sure that others will respond to this thread as well, because I know others here have also done the same...
Take care, --- and thanks for posting this!

Thanks for the warning!
For me, it's pictures like the one here that motivated me not to ever have short hair again!
The day after dreaded feeling. Don't be to hard on yourself. We all want change, lucky for you the length didn't all go. Now you charge ahead with new determination.
Your young and able to grow it back....soon you will be where you want to be. tough lesson, but just so you know I think your cut looks good (what I can see of it) It's a spring change.... ouch

Weeeeeel it's not that short, and you learned a valuable lesson.
at a fraction of the cost.
