Actually, 1 year and 4 days since I put the scissors in the back of the drawer.
Although not quite long enough to tie into a ponytail without hairspray, I'm getting pretty close. Probably by the end of summer.
My hair is on average 10 inches long with a few strands close to 11". Compare to my avatar picture from October 29, 2007.
Many thanks to everyone on MLHH for giving me the courage to get out of the awkward stage. I no longer hate my hair, and now I have absolutely no intentions of trimming until I reach my goal of lower back possibly waist.

Looks great, Pat. You've made a vast amount of growth since October. I've just been able to get a full tail, and I'm 20 months in growth, but who knows? You may be able to by end of summer. Keep it growing!
Thanks. I'm hoping it will be long enough by the end of the summer. It seemed to slow down a bit during the winter, but I guess that's normal. i figure if I get 2 more inches of hair I should be able to tie it back.

Thanks! Couldn't have done it without you guys. Whenever I felt even the smallest urge to trim my hair during the awkward stage, all I had to do was go here and the thoughts of scissors went away.
Now I don't think trims will be an option for a very long time.

Are you ever doing great and your hair is really taking off! And to think, this much progress in such a short time. You are truly one of the lucky ones whos growth rate appears to be faster than average. Best of luck to you with continued great progress. You won't believe how great the ponytail will be looking a year from now. And, I doubt you will have a single regret. Bravo!
Thanks! It seems to grow a little less than an inch a month. I'm really starting to enjoy my hair now that I can do things with it. Can't wait until my 2nd year update.

I couldn't have done it without MLHH. When going through the awkward stage, there were a few times I though about going short again, but whenever I thought about trimming, I cam here and erased that thought. Now that I am out of the awkward stage, I'm really enjoying my hair and posting future updates.

A few people outside the internet also commented positively on my earrings. I almost always wear earrings as I have had them since I was in grade school.
I typically wore small studs or hoops, but now that my hair is getting longer, they seem to get lost in the hair. My girlfriend suggested I put in bigger hoops and I did and I also like the way they look. Now if I had short hair I would never go out in pblic with the earrings I wear now, but you're absolutely right, I love them now.
Yeah, that's something I've noticed, long hair goes better with bigger hoops or dangles, kinda like in the 80's some bands wear their earrings with long hair

Your hair is coming along nicely. :-) You will be at tail length before you know it. I remember having to use hairspray during my awkward phase too.
Thanks! I'm hoping by the end of summer I will be spray-free. Right now I can tie it without any hairspray and it looks good for a bit but after awhile the front starts getting messy since I need about another inch or two before I can tie. Can't wait!

The more I let it grow, the more I am enjoying it! Just thinking about what my hair might look like in a year from now only makes he smile on my face even bigger.

It grew about 8-9 inches since April 2007, hopefully it continues a t this pace so I can finally tie a ponytail without hairspray. I can't wait to post my 2nd year update next April :)

Hey, Pat. Your hair is really getting long and looking great. Just think, in 3-4 more years you will reach your goal of waist length hair. It is a journey worth taking. Enjoy all the different lengths and styles that you will achieve between now and then.
