I just spent this last weekend in Minneapolis, and I was amazed. So many people had long hair! Where I live, there's only 4 or 5 people I know of who have longer than shoulder length hair, and maybe 10 who have shoulder-length-is.
Also, to Hegg, where do you live in Minneapolis? I went through Bloomington, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Burnsville, Farmington, and several other places wondering if anyone from the board would be near!
Hey Bill,
Yes, there are plenty of longhairs in this state, it's great. I wish I had MLHH cards to give these guys.
I wish I knew you were in town. I live in Cottage Grove, thats just a few miles south of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
I worked at the place in the picture in 1966. We passed through the Twin Cities a few years ago and were surprised to see the building had not changed a bit! It is on a four lane highway that runs from St. Paul to White Bear Lake.

Very nice. When I was younger I lived in Burnsville.
We didn't go quite that far south, but we did stay in the Crowne Plaza in St. Paul. It was an amazing hotel, and there was some sort of martial art convention going on. Many of them were longhairs also!
Yeah...
Any chances you're heading over to the west coast??
You wont believe how many longhairs live here! lol....I'm sure all of us over on this side of the pond can agree with that ;P
Well dude---come and visit sometime!
Lol,
Hope the traveling is awesome,
Peace!,

about five minutes from Bloomington. I haven't found long hair too common here, but there is next to no long hair discrimination among the general population. Never had a negative comment.
BillS, Amsterdam (yes the Netherlands) 35 years ago. I was the odd man out. Easy to pick out of the crowd with my service man's buzz cut. A great city to visit by the way.
peace, jonalbear
Hi Bill that's too bad you missed a meet up chance. I would suggest posting a note on the board as soon as you know your going to be somewhere and have a little time to meet up. it's so cool to meet other users in person. A little planning goes a liong way.
Hope you had a nice time in the Twin Cities.
Kevin
I live a little ways south of the Twin Cities, out in the country.
When I moved up here from Georgia, I did notice that people in general seemed more relaxed about many things. Racism is a *lot* less prevalent up here as well.
I've also briefly lived in Bloomington and Burnsville. The only negative comments about my hair I've gotten so far have been from my own family. :P
I have never been to Minneasota, but I see a lot of guys wear their hair long in Seattle and surrounding areas. I see long hairs almost every day, and I usually do not go into Seattle. I stay across from Lake Washington. When I do go to Seattle, I see a lot of men wearing long hair.
Interesting. I guess the Twin Cities is sometimes a trendsetter. During my college years (in the mid-1980s) I noticed that hair styles were becoming longer, well before it caught on in most of the rest of the country.
I work in Washington DC, and I'd say the number of longhairs here is only fairly average. Of course, there are lots of lawyers, lobbyists and civil servants here, who often tend to be fairly uptight, i.e. not too relaxed.
However, the DC Human Rights Act bans job discrimination based on "hair style"!!! Theoretically, you can't be turned down for a job in DC based on your hair. If there are so many shorthairs here you can only blame it on their own lack of coolness, not because they had to cut it for employment.
