Hello MLHH.
I was wondering about what type of earrings you all wear. I've had pierced ears since grade school and I wear them every day. They're a part of me. Now I know it's not uncommon to see men wearing earrings, but they usually just wear small hoops or studs.
With longer hair, often the earrings are covered with hair and no one will be able to see them as well.
I have been wearing somewhat larger earrings that I would never have even thought about wearing when my hair was short. Do any of you also wear larger hoops or other large earrings? I've had people comment that the larger earrings go well with my hair and my girlfriend loves them.
What are your thoughts?
i have had my left ear pierced about 6 years ago. at the time i only wore studs and small hoops, but a couple years back i bought a hoop that isn't so much large, as it is thick, which i have worn ever since (for the most part). Picture a silver superbowl rung and that is essentially what i have in my ear .right now.
I have smaller set that might be similar to that. I might wear hem when I have my hair tied back.
"...and my girlfriend loves them..."
..........END OF DISCUSSION !!
Hell yea man, I always have a large silver hoop. I do think it looks good with long hair and you have to be able to pull it off which you do. I think with long hair you get that attitude/image complete with a silver hoop earring, like all the alternative rock stars.
OUCH!
Bill
THAT'S thinking outside the box! :-)

Right now I have 3 diamond studs in each ear.
My other favorite combo is a 10 guage gold ring in the lower hole, 2 diamonds studs above.
I also do the 8 guage gold ring with 2, 12 guage rings above.
Guess I just love the multiple ring look!!

I gauged my ears to #8's back in highschool but since have let them close back up to almost regular piercings again. I liked the way the small CBR rings looked back then but I dont think they look good on me anymore.
An old Silicon Rectifier I yanked out of a Scott amp I was reworking.
Problem is, I don't have my ears pierced...
How many amps are those rated, anyhow? (Don't laugh, the National Electrical Code has tables of amperage ratings for AWG conductors, and most people discuss the size of their piercings in AWG.)
I have a longhair friend who has his nose pierced and he sticks a nail in it. When people ask him how big his piercing is, he replies, "Four penny."
One day he lost his nail, and we went into a hardware store to get another. The clerk said he had never sold just one nail before, and it didn't tip the scale enough to show a charge, so he just gave my friend the nail. My friend just stuck it in his nose and said, "Thanks!" The clerk almost fainted.
Bill
Bill,
That is too funny about your friend. :-)
That is a 3 amp rectifier.
Mike
Does he go to the hardware store to have his nails done? ;)
--Rick
Yeah, he gave up on the nail salons. Too much rust.
Bill
That would make a rather interesting earring.
I know I haven't posted and comments to your "computer" posts but I've got to say that you are the coolest computer nerd I've seen yet! I mean that in the nicest of ways ;-)) You should get your ear pierced now.. That rectifier would fit you perfectly!!
BTW - Awesome collection of old electronics, I remember the very first of personal computers.. The good ole' XT's and AT's with the high tech 5.25 floppy drives and $100 a mb RAM and the 10mb hard drive you had to take a loan out to buy!! Good stuff bro ;-)) Take care
Tom
.
Definitely look for some large 2" hoops or there are some really cool dangle earrings that work well with long hair.
Thats what I do, anyway.
After reading the posts so far I am much more willing to give them a try. Thanks.
.
That is a really cool way to tie your hair! :-)
I like the way you tied your hair back. Also nice earrings. They go well with your hair.
I got both ears pierced shortly after I started growing my hair out. Now that its past my shoulders I always wear larger hoops for the reasons you said. If I wear my hair up I tend to wear smaller hoop (1/2" -3/4), but when I have I wear it down I wear 1" to 3" hoops depending on where I'm going :-) I think they look awesome with long hair and I rarely go without them. Sometime I'd like to get a second one in each ear too.
Wow! 3 inch hoops! I wonder what I'd look like with those. Are your hoops plain style, gold or silver?
I wouldnt mind trying something new.
I wear mostly silver, occasionaly gold, but not real :-) I like wearing differnt earrings all the time
Hey Pat,
Yea I've been wearing earrings for as long as I can remember but at this time only gold studs.I do have some small hoops that I like to put in at times as I like to feel them in my ears as the studs I wouldn't even know that they are there. Its cool when the hoops swing on your ears and of course longhair makes it necessary if you want them to be seen:)
Mark
Good. I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels the same way :)
Pat,
those you're wearing look good, what size are them? Have you tried some other styles?
Tes
This pair is 1 1/4" across. I have another pair of hoops the same size but they are plain silver and thin. I also have a pair of dangle dreamcatcher earrings that have the small turquoise bead in the center. They hang about 2 inches.
Cool, I saw yesterday a guy wearing dangle earrings about 1 1/2 long....and yes he had shoulder length hair and look pretty good
Tes
Having mentioned before that I am a professional piercer my earrings are a little more than the "normal" person would wear I guess.. but it's one more thing that makes me "ME"! LOL Both sides are the same.
And if anyone is wondering... Yes, That is a scorpion in there.. I'm a Scorpio! ;-))
Tom
Cool plug, what size are you sporting? I've got a zero and an 8 guage in each ear, love them. I know stretching is forever, in the case that once you get a certain guauge you will always have some kind of hole, but it is totally different and unusual. There are so many plugs and tunnels out there at any price range and occasion. I get most of mine from www.Kolopiercing.com they have a large selection.
Thanks, mine are 3/4 and the CBR's are 8 guage.. Stretching up to 1/2 will usually shrink back to normal on most people... All depends on how fast they got there. Too fast and the tissue tears making the hole more permanent.. If stretched properly it can return to a normal state on sizes even up to 5/8! Kolo is a good company from what I've seen.. Ive had my ears pierced for some time now.......can you guess what my favorite subject is?
Math for sure. I do a lot of stuff in Excel.
Scott
Sweet Scott!!! I have been working a lot recently on combining Excel with Mathematica, which is an EXTREMELY powerful math computation software
Peace
Clayton
I never used Mathematica so far, but I think Matlab is the best for computations - and Maple for symbolic calculus.
I do get along quite nicely with both of those as well.
I once wore earrings, but i've stopped since then, and let them seal up. They just wheren't really for me. =)
But they'd be easily re-peirced, so who knows? Maybe i'll get them again one day.

I had my left ear pierced forever and wore a variety of hanging crosses hoops etc. Recently about 3 months ago I had the other ear dome. Since then I have been wearing small diamond studs. I want to get some nice mid sized hoops with little balls in the middle for when my hair is back. I think that will look pretty cool.
ToDD B.
looks great dude! i got one loop in my left ear and gonna get my right ear done soon! long hair+earrings= kick butt brother haha
My personal preference is 1 inch and smaller for hoops.
I have 7 of them. They are all different sizes. I have 4 in the right and 3 in the left. See photo. You can see them in my right ear clearly.
Scott
My hair is an inch longer than my enclosed photo. It has taken a year so far to get to the length it is. My few problems with my hair is that I toss and turn in my sleep and have psoriasis at the back of my head and behind my ears. I did see a dermatologist but on another part of my body. Anyway, I too have my ear pierced, 7 small hoops on 1 ear, wear only 3 at very top of my ear. I wanted to ask if you are goign to show any more photos of you with your hair down? I think you have beautiful long hair and it would be a shame not to see it flow. Pete
No earrings here. I never got the itch to pierce my ears.
