Hey there guys,
This is a pic from a couple years back May 2006, I think the longest I ever had my hair. I cut my hair short again shortly after this photo was taken and am now trying to keep my nerve and to let it grow out again. Right now, it falls just below my ears, probably a couple inches shorter than this photo. Any thoughts? Thanks Mark
Your hair in the pic looks great. My thoughts? Grow it if it's what YOU want to do and to hell with all the opinions of your peers (life partners not included, this could be touchy). And just hang in there through the awkward phase.
Peace
You've got very thick hair, ideal for growing very long.
Don't know why you've cut it last time, but if you want long hair just go for it and don't bother about other people's opinions.
You look better with your hair long. You should grow it out!
Welcome to the board Marka. Try to keep up your nerve as you have great hair and looks best long.
Kevin
Hi Mark,
I would like to welcome you to the hyperboard, and am delighted that you have joined our community. You have excellent quality hair, and best of luck in your hair growing journey.
Welcome aboard,
David
Thanks for the support. I really appreciate. I think I'll be able to keep my nerve this time. A couple of questions:
I tend to like blow-drying my hair and also use very few products (probably only some conditioner once in a while). Are either of these bad for the hair?
And what exactly is the "awkward stage"? I've heard it mentioned quite a bit here.
Thanks again! Mark
First off, I love your hair!
If you use the blow-frier (How longhairs see the devices), you want to use conditioner every time you can, especially on the ends. Specific brands/formulations will depend on your hair.
The "awkward stage" is when your hair is exactly the wrong length, it's long enough to get in your face, but too short to pull back or put behind your ears. Also, if you have wavy hair the ends curl out in a funky frame for your face (no, the alliteration was NOT intentional). When your hair is longer, the weight keeps it straight(er) and the ends are far enough away from your face.
There is a mental side to this stage, you feel like your hair just isn't growing fast enough, and there's a niggling fear that it'll never grow, so maybe it'd be better to cut it back... If you can get through this stage, you'll be fine.
Thanks for the info! I'd guess I'm probably in the early part of that awkward stage now...
