Long hair forum
.
Good luck with your new site, I see you have to register and login. You don't have to here which is one of the user friendly
things I like about our board. There are so many unique things I like about MLHH I could go on and on.
I'm sure a few mlhh dudes will join up so again best of luck
keeping it long and strong.
Kevin
Good luck with the site and they are already a couple of other board around already. I'm just wondering how many we have to keep track of!
As Kevin says no logins here and a nice friendly community and not to worry using my depleating grey matter to remember yet another logon and password.
Cheers,
John.B
Best of luck to you with your site.
I have been with this wonderful board for many years and am very happy here so hardly have time to join, let alone log-in to something which can use up some extra time.
But in any event I wish you well.
Peace
good luck with this. i think ill join, no reason i can't participate in both of these. plus i can imagine meeting some other longhairs who have yet to discover the MLHH.
We wish her well! The more places for longhairs to congregate, the better! There really is no site now for girls who want to meet longhaired guys, and that is a niche that needs filling. That has never been the mission of our site here, the MLHH.
I said "her" above because it's actually not a group of guys in Maine but a girl in the UK. Details are below my signature.
One thing - the site as it is now set up impressed me as awfully secretive though. There is no page like our "Moderators" page that shows who runs the place, and there is not even a way shown to contact the management. Most web sites have an "About Us" page and a "Contact Us" page, and I saw neither. People will be a lot more open to participating if they are told how the site is managed and if they are introduced to who runs it. Few will post personal information to a mystery site.
Oh, and don't be afraid of your users, your users are your friend! It is for them that your site is there.

All things considered I was a bit disappointed to see these revelations. I was even considering joining as a frinedly
gesture of support but after reading Bills findings I almost
feel....welll....I hesitate to use the word decieved. But as
He put it "secrecy" well I don't know why all the mystery.
Mary if your reading this my best advice be more open. You need not invite everyone into your lounge for drinks but let them know what's what and you'll have much more success over the long run.
Like many new things there's always room for tweaking and improvement so again I'll wish you good luck.

MLHH President
that someone is hiding something. Even more the reason I would stay put happily right here where no log-ins, registrations, secret passwords or whatever are needed to access the site.
All you have to do here at the MLHH is post. Simple as that.
Could not you have done the same or at least spelled-out the details ahead of your "click-on?"
Looks like a spam post intended to divert traffic to that site.
Well I signed up (charlisangel) but since ive made my first post, the site keep loging me off for no reason, therefore making me not able to post, maybe you should check that out :P
as much as I like the forum setup, I don't like it
if there were a forum for this I would end up seeing so many people with avatars of not them
I like knowing who I'm talking to here, I like talking to them, not the internet persona they create
i can't agree more. i make it a point to ALWAYS use a picture of myself for any forums i use. i preferre to know the person i am talking to, rather than identifying them with the calgary flames logo, jango fett or whatever they have their avatar as.
But some people are just not comfortable having a picture of their face on the Net. I've been on and off this forum for 7 or so years, but have never posted a picture of my face. Yet I think I can still add to the discussions.
You woundn't actually know me any better if did see my face. I personally don't really care what people look like.
don't get me wrong, theres a place for things like that' I just don't think it should really be something that is about someone's appearance
those people might not be comfortable with it, but I wasn't at first either but I later overcame that and I think I get more out of this board by showing who I am
It is a matter of personal preference to have your face on or not, that's why we make it possible to post without joining the users directory. The only time I get thinking someone should try and post a pic is when they are going on about their hair describing it in detail in post after post when it would be easier to just post a pic. A picture is worth a thousand words. Other times I hint at wanting to see a pic because I think someone is causally trolling.
She posted as "the Maine guys" and isn't a guy at all nor is she in Maine. In addition to that she hasn't replied anywhere in this thread which tells you something also. In situations like this it would be nice to know and or see who your dealing with.
Kevin
Also, when people post and run, it is rude. We have people who post with questions, the guys here answer them, and they never return to even say "thanks". Other times strangers will appear to post a view but never return to discuss it with those who opt to discuss it with them.
More often than not, when someone we have not seen before appears to promote something, it is more like spam than community participation. Unless it is REALLY on topic, it never makes it by the moderators. And when it is on topic but the stranger does not hang around during the life of the thread to interact with the users, their post soon takes on the stench of spam. In these cases the users should be glad to know that we often delete the thread so it does not foul the archives.
Bill
Oh, I agree that a picture is worth a thousand words.
I've posted pictures of my hair, but not of my face. You can get a good look at a person's hair without seeing their face.
There are three reasons a guy doesn't post his face:
Bill
Or maybe all of the above... ;)

You're entering a crowded market. There are already a lot of long hair sites, some extremely well-established.
To attract members, your site will need to offer something that the existing sites do not. Please give this some thought. I wish you the best success!
Ed
Hey good luck with your website as I guess more resources for longhaired men are always welcome. However like the saying goes
"Theres no place like home" and for me thats the good ol' mlhh.
Don't be discouraged as I'm sure you all will be successful.
