So I borrowed one of my moms conditioner since mine ran out and checked the production date which was 11/30/2005 and the expiry date was 11/30/___. The text appeared to be worn out for some reason and I can't take any chances. It would be okay if it was 11/30/2008-2009, but does anyone know what the average lifespan of a hair conditioner is before I go out and buy a new one?
Since you've written the dates 'backwards' ;-) I doubt you're in the EU, but if it has a symbol that looks like a pot of hand cream with a number in it, then that's the number of months after opening that it's OK for. To be honest, I expect it's fine for a lot longer though. http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/cosmetics/html/cosm_open_label.htm
The ones in my house all say 12 months (three different bottles).
Crap! Thanks for the info, Londoner. I bought new ones and this old conditioner DID have a hand cream symbol and next to it was '24M' which, I am sure means '24 months'. It expired back in November 2007! I knew my mom rarely even used it anyway and thank god I didn't try it!
I would say about a year but always check with the manufacturer or if not sure I would get rid of it any some new that's for sure.
Cheers,
