What's up, denizens of the MLHH. =) How are you guys tonight?
I saw some of you guys with end-greetings that were Latin, and one dude on here had pics from a Renaissance Faire, and was curious as to what you guys (and gals) think of swords, towers, lords, massive wars, knights and such. ^_^
Also, do any of you listen to bands with mythic/Norse roots? I listen to Ensiferum, Wintersun, and I'm trying to find more awesome bands like those. Suggestions? :D
Deine Ehre bis deinen letzten Atem, meine Kameraden halten!
I've always loved norse mythology, and i have studied norse paganism. Even have a viking battle axe hanging on my wall (along with some swords).
anyways the only two bands i can really name off the top of my head besides ensiferum and wintersun (both good bands, although i like ensiferum more) are amon amart and finntroll (ok, not so much finntroll, but i really like them).
yeah are you kidding me?I love scandanavian bands and non one that surrond everything around norse mythology,i listen to alot of vikign and folk bands so yeah.
i could give names but im not much of a name dropper;)
Amon Amarth
Turisas
Enslaved
Some good viking metal!
Hell yea man, I love 'barbarians'. Germanic Tribes, the Hun's, all those guys with long hair who kicked the 'civilized' world's ass.
nah the celtics were the best and toughest men out there! i love being Scottish blood haha :) go celts!
Below I've listed some "viking" metal bands that I listen to. Out of the list Equilibrium sound the most similar to Ensiferum and Wintersun.

Yes. Yes I do. People have already mentioned lots of good bands. ^_^ I listen to all the different flavors of metal music tho. ;)
High!
Be careful... not so few of those bands are pretty deep into neo-Nazi ideology ("National Socialist Black Metal")!
Sounds dangerously close to the infamous "Blut und Ehre", the motto of the SS - perhaps you had it already in history lessons!
See you in Khyberspace!
Yadgar
Now playing: Wer Schmetterlinge lachen hört (Novalis)
Whoa ... I'm no Hitler Youth guy. =\ I just know some German. Anyways, I'm mainly Irish and Scottish.
I don't like your german nazi paroles altough I'm german.
But I love listening to norwegian and swedish svart metal og jeg snakker litt norsk. Skjende møysen.
Bru, it's not a German Nazi parole. =\ It's just an end-greeting.
Looking for bands try google.

I would say check out the first four albums by Amorphis, although they are Finnish, it's still similar
Awesome bands man, I'm going to see Ensiferum next month @ BBKings in NYC. Try out Turisas, Folk Earth, Falkenbach, Enslaved, Emperor, Finntroll...those should keep you busy for a while. Enjoy!

I'm not really into swords and towers and such but I do like that part of the history.
A lot of bands are already mentioned, but try last.fm it's a program that keeps track of the songs you played and gives you advise about bands you may like.
We like the old Pagan metal here.
Cheers,
