Hi,
I have a mix of wavy/curly hair...A bit like this http://www.naturallycurly.com/images/reader/1082617634PosterGal.jpg.
When and with what should I comb my hair? I've been growing my hair for maybe 2.5 years, it is about 3 inches above my shoulders (double the length when wet lol...). I had 4 trims along the way. My hair is pretty damaged, for the first 2 years I used a blowdrier and a brush on the hot setting EVERY morning when it was dripping wet, and I used a straigthtener for about 1 to 1.5 year, and I washed every day. Basically, I destroyed my hair haha. Since 6 months I take better care, I use Redken extreme shampoo and conditioner, Iso leave-in conditioner and Matrix Sleek=Look. I only wash every 2-3 days.
But the problem is that if I comb, I loose all my curls, and my hair become poofy....So I used to only comb before and after a shower with a wide tooth comb...But If I only comb before and after washing, my hair has a LOT of tangles...So I'm kinda stuck lol...
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Hello,
A similar call for help was recently made and I've posted a response there:

Well, there's only so much one can do to prevent tangles from forming (especially depending upon the exact nature of the hair) but I generally remove as many tangles and snarls as I can with my fingers just prior to washing my hair. I only comb it right after washing it with a wide tooth comb. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend combing it too often even if your aim is to reduce tangles.
Peace,
