Alot of people on here that are about where I am complain about errant flips and curls in their hair. My question is, if you flat iron your hair or chemically straighten it, they'll fo away right??
They are temporary... it's just that your hair doesn't have the weight to go down yet.
Personally I don't see why people are so picky over this stuff. It's like if you don't have perfectly straight hair all the time you want to cut. What?
I don't get it either.. People like myself only WISHED I had that "problem"! I don't hate my hair by any means but I sure wish it had some waves to it like a lot of people complain about.... ;-(( For anyone who complains about "flips" or "curls" just remember other people view you as fortunate..

Ditto to that!
Why does everyone want it all straight?!?!?!?!?
Seeing all you guys with nice, wavy hair can make us straight haired guys envy it all!
I mean, I LOVE my hair as it is....but sometimes....LOL
Oh well....I guess it's human nature

I agree... Seems people with curly hair are the only once that really voice their complaints.. Maybe we should start complaining about our straight hair so they will understand what they do to us! LOL

The flat iron is a temporary thing, it's just like using a curling iron to make curls. The effect lasts until you next get it wet, unless you have bionic hair like I do, then the effect lasts until you get to your destination. *sigh* This uses heat to break down your hair, and you use gel, mousse and hairspray to get it to hold. *I wish*
Chemical straightening is the same thing as perming, only they comb out the curls instead of putting them in. The same chemicals are used, you'll have the same funky smell for a few days, the same broken hairs. Chemical perming/straightening works because the chemicals break down molecular bonds in your hair, weakening it.
If it's not straightened in some manner, the ends of wavy hair will have a bit of a flip.
As for which is the lesser of two evils, I'd say using the iron, on coolest setting, and not every day. Have a few "bad hair days", wear a hat or bandanna. In a couple months it's over, if you don't trim. ~looks at Beanz~

Oh boy a staring contest! I wonder who will blink first?
Wise words from Julia you run the risk of damage then you'll be posting about how damaged your hair is and you want to cut it and we certainly don't want that.
best to take her advice using the Iron sparingly as you can stop if it's getting damaged before it gets bad.
