Hey all longhairs I'm finally back home after an outstanding week out in the bay area. The weather was great and I certainly enjoyed all that I did while visiting my brother. The highlight was meeting Bill and the other longhairs who were available that day for lunch at Duarte's.Of course I did some picture taking and I figured I'd share a few with you all.The first one will be the guys from the lunch minus Ed G. since he is a bit camera shy.Too bad as Ed has a fabulous mane but I will respect his wishes about posting his pic.Anyway enough blabbing and lets get started....
Here is a pic of me at Pebble beach just a bit south of Pescadero. The car is not mine but I enjoyed giving it a spin!
Here is another pic of Pebble beach with it unusual surface.
One of the days my brother and I went up to Napa wine country for some tasting. This pic was taken at Artesa one of the wineries we visited.
Here is some piece of art at Artesa.Looks like some sort of bomb to me.I don't know what do you think?
Do they turn on those light bulbs at night? It almost looks like someone put Lite-Brite pegs on a missile.
Hey thats a good observation as I was there during the day so its possible they do light up that thing at night.Yea the Lite Brite suggestion does make me think of that.LOL.
Lets see so I was staying in Half Moon Bay so some shoreline pics from that area.
Here are some cool flowers that I found on the bluff at the beach in Half Moon Bay.
Wouldn't be complete without some sunset shots from my brothers balcony in HMB.
Heres another sunset from a different day as no two seem to be the same.
Well finally a nice ocean shot at HMB beach.Jump in the waters great!!Thanks for taking a look at my pics as I wish all of you could have been there.
Nice picture! Not sure how the swells were out there this past couple weeks, but NorCal shore break can get pretty gnarly, man. Here's a shot of me taking it on with a bodyboard a few years ago. Some of the best barrels to be had :-)
thanks again for sharing!

Great to see you had a great holiday and thanks for sharing the pictures.
Cheers,

Hi John,
No problem as its fun to share pics of ones vacation. It was a great week that ended to quickly as at times I think a second week would have been nicer.
Cheers,
Mark
Great pics!
California looks like a lot of fun :D
Thanks and glad you liked the shots.I just barely scratched the surface but you get the idea.Anyone who can swing it should make a trip here sometime.
Mark
Hi Mark,
What an absolutely fabulous set of pictures, and it must have been a real pleasure having the opportunity to meet up with some of your fellow hyperboard members.
California is one of the most beautiful places on the planet, with such an amazing array of scenery annd locations. That is cool that you got to see Pebble Beach as well, where one of the most famous golf courses in the world is located. (I do play a little golf!)
Take care,
David
Hi David,
Thanks for your comments on my pics and when you finally get underway on your road trip certainly this area is a must to visit. You won't be disappointed at all.I envy the mlhh guys who actually get to live out here.So much to do and all you need to do is drive a bit and the climate can be totally changed.California is such an interesting place.Take care my friend.
Mark
Hey Mark, you are quite the photographer, there are some lovely shots there, I love the one of the breakers on the beach - I wish I could be somewhere like that right now.
Your brother lives in a beautiful part of the world and its great to see you met with some of the other guys too.
I hope you enjoyed the wine tasting, I love a drop of wine - for the antioxidents of course!!
;-)
Thanks for sharing these wonderful pictures.
Take care, Dave
Glad you liked the pics Dave as I could have done so much more but at least you get the flavor of whats its like in California. At least in that part as the state is just huge. The meetup with the guys was fun and to actually see them in person and hear their voices was cool.As for the wine tasting its incredible how many wineries are in a small area.Certainly it would have been great to have you there too Dave.Take care my friend and hope your weekend was great.

Very nice pics, Mark! Glad you had a good time in SF and HMB. We used to get our pumpkins every year in HMB. That stretch of highway 1 between Santa Cruz and San Francisco is beautiful. I've driven it countless times in search of good surf. Some of the best uncrowded waves I've ever ridden are along that stretch of coast. April/May is my absolute favorite time to be by the NorCal coast. You visited at a great time! Damn, now I'm itching to throw my board in the van and head on out there myself!!! The stretch of coast between Monterey and SLO is another favorite of mine in the fall. Absolutely gorgeous. Well, glad you made it home safe! Thanks so much for sharing!
Take care,
~gman
Hi gman,
That was a cool pic you posted below of you riding the surf.
I have to say people who can afford to live there are so lucky to have that in their back yards. Its just that totally awesome to be able to look out your window and see all that.I noticed on Friday a group of people kite surfing just north of Santa Cruz on highway 1.Looked like a blast for sure.Who knows maybe someday I can be part of that area.Has to be nice:)
Mark
Looks great!! Would like to get down there sometime. At least I can see your wonderful PIC's.
Hi Quester.Yea if you can swing it you should visit that part of California as the pictures don't do it justice. Everytime I visit some part of that state it always amazes me.
Mark
Hey Mark... Neat pics! Glad you had a great time on your trip. You're right... 2 weeks would've been better!
Yep... Half Moon Bay is a neat place. Great sunsets and great surf. Check out some of my pics of some surfers at Half Moon Bay. Just click on the pic set on the right side...

My pics...
Hi Rick,
Thanks so much for showing up for the lunch at Duarte's as it was great to meet you:)The weather was perfect as well as the lunch we had there.Certainly I'd rather to have stayed two weeks as one is just not enough.Possibly my next trip out west I'll set up a longer stay as it would have been nice to see you guys again possibly in the city.
I checked out your picks from HMB and those waves are just crazy!I admire those surfers who can handle riding them in.It has to be a really physical challenge.I think doing that might be a bit much for myself!LOL.
Anyway Rick I'm home and getting ready to head for work soon.BOOOOOOOO!LOL.I'll always remember this trip and meeting such nice people as the longhairs of California:)Take care my friend and write me anytime.
Mark
Awesome picture Mark looks like you had a great time. makes me want to go back very soon.
Kevin
Hi Kevin.Yea I hated to leave Saturday morning and to top it off my flight was canceled and rebooked as a stopover in Chicago. It wasn't that big a deal as it made my travel day longer but they never sent me notification of the change. It looks to me it all happened quickly that morning about the cancellation.I got to the airport just one hour before the plane took off.Talk about being close.Truthfully I wouldn't have minded having to wait another day to leave CA:)
Mark
Hi Mark,
Thanks for all the pictures of a strange and far away land! You seem to be a great photographer. You really captured some beautiful scenery. I really like that Honda too that you were sitting in. I'd love to get behind the wheel of one of those things on a road course!
Glad you had such a great vacation, but isn't always a relief to sleep in your own bed again.
Hi Matt.California certainly is nothing like New Jersey thats for sure.LOL.It was good to get home to my own bed like you said but I have to admit landing in Newark Airport was a downer. To top it off it was drizzly and damp back home too.Yuck!Fortunately the weather got better the next day.Oh and the Honda S2000 is an awesome car and was right at home where you saw it pictured.Man I want to go back there!
Mark
Wow! Were those ever breathtaking pictures and you captured the area beautifully. You MUST have a very artistic eye indeed! So glad you shared these with us and especially the one of the gathering the day you all met up at Duarts. (Looks like that photo was taken up a ways on another road as I seem to be able to see the back of Duarts in the distance.)
So glad you could make the trip Mark and glad you had such a great time.
All the best-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
Thanks for your comments on my photography skills!LOL.I tried to capture things that looked cool to me and going digital certainly makes that easy. The pic of the guys was taken across the street from Duarte's but I did take a pic of the restaurant which I'll attach to this post.Sure wish you could have been there too Justin.
Mark
Thanks so much Mark for enclosing this photo. Does this ever bring back happy memories through the 90's for myself and my trips to that area of CA. Duarts still looks exactly the same as when I was there last. In fact, that whole town is like something that has stood-still in time and is like going back to the late 30's. (Nope. I hadn't been born quite that early.) LOL
Wish I could have been there as well. My health is improving now so perhaps one of these days.
Take care Mark and as always my best to you.
Justin~
Looks like you had a great vacation !
Thanks for Sharing...Thanks for Sharing.
Walter
Hey Walter its a pleasure to post my pics for you guys to see. What would have been even better is a pic of the guys with you included. Its just me but I'd have loved having all the mlhh family there.
Mark
It looks and sounds like you had a wonderful time. Seeing beautiful scenery and meeting some great people must have combined to make this a very memorable trip.
Hey Jason you sure are right about your statement. It was a fabulous day and meeting the guys was so cool.I'll never forget that day and for sure "I"LL BE BACK!!":)Let me say further you should try and get out that way if you've never been there. Its addicting.Take care my friend.
Mark
Hey Mark,
WONDERFUL pics there! I especially like the coastal scenes... Those hippie-pink flowers spilling down the cliff at that Half Moon Bay beach are commonly known as, "Ice Plants" (Aizoaceae is the formal Latin horticultural name). A type of succulent ground cover that originally comes from So. Africa, as I recall (which has a similar climate to California's).
I really enjoyed chatting with you on the phone! Although not as rewarding as meeting you in-person, still, hearing someone's voice is a pleasure (especially when considering we met here by just typing to each other)!
Take care. And the next time you're out here, I hope my schedule isn't as conflicting, as I'd really like to meet you!!.
Long Lox 4ever,
Ken
Hi Ken glad to hear from you again this time though by keyboard!LOL.Thanks so much for calling me back last week as I know I might have caught you at a bad time during work.It was cool to hear your voice and to chat for some time. The topper of course would have been to meet you personally but I understand you were busy.Surely next trip I'll hope we can finally get together.
Thanks for the info about the vegetation that I photographed on the beach. You sure do know your plants!LOL.I have to say I haven't seen any of that here in NJ.Were pretty big on dandelions though.
Anyway my vacation may be over but I will always remember my time on the west coast as someday maybe that will be home for me.Take care my friend.
Mark
