after starting over I am slowly getting into the awkward stage and it is very windy sometimes so I was wondering if wearing a hat hurts the hair in any way? my hair is already pretty dry so i don't want to do anything that can hurt it more.
I haven't yet entered the awkward stage and I am wearing after shower a hat to straighten my hair.I have dry hair too.I don't think it hurts them in any way.

In "any" way? Well, if ya nit-pik, you could say yes, but not really enough to worry about . . .
Anytime you apply friction to the hair, you risk doing damage to the hair cuticle (the outside layer of the hair shaft). But hats are "small potatoes" compared to stuff like brushing wet hair, pulling combs through snarled hair, etc. I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure the hat isn't too tight, as you don't want to smush the hair follicules in the skin where the hair does all its growing.
